5.0 out of 5 stars Solid and sturdy construction., March 17, 2006
This review is from: Peerless Articulating Wall Mount For Up To 22" Display - Vesa 75/100MM (Silver) (Electronics)
I'm entrusting this wall mount to hold up my Viewsonic VA912-4 19" LCD. So far it has worked out beautifully.

BUT! I had to go to Lowe's to buy screws that fit the VA912. Even though the Viewsonic specifications clearly state that it has Vesa 100mm complient mounting holes on the back of the monitor, the 14mm screws provided with the Peerless Wall Mount were TOO LONG. They bottomed out on the display and had about 1/16th of an inch to go before the arm would be tight against the LCD's back. Washers didn't seem to allow it to tighten down securely enough.

If you have a Viewsonic display I STILL HIGHLY recommend this mount. But, I recommend you go out and buy four M4-.7 x 12mm machine screws. The screws provided are M4-.7 x 14mm and M4-.7 x 25mm. The 25mm screws are to be used with the plastic spacers (provided) for displays "with a hole pattern in a pocket."

Everything that came in my box:

(1) wall arm assembly
(4) M4-.7 x 14mm
(4) M4-.7 x 25mm
(4) .437H (plastic) spacers
(2) #14 x 2.5" flat head wood screw (these are big!)
(1) 4mm Allen wrench
(1) 5mm Allen wrench
(2) concrete anchors (yeah, you can hang this thing from a cinder block wall OR a stud in your drywall.)

You'll need to be able to find a stud in your wall, a drill, a big Philips head screw driver and I recommend a level or a friend that can 'eyeball' it for you (you want your monitor level, don't you?)

Don't let my experience discourage you! This arm is sturdy, trustworthy and quite useful for clearing up your desk. And who knows, maybe the screws provided will work for your LCD.

UPDATE: After 2 years, I am still very pleased with this thing. No sagging, no bending or twisting, no problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, One Small Issue, February 13, 2007

This review is from: Peerless Articulating Wall Mount For Up To 22" Display - Vesa 75/100MM (Silver) (Electronics)
This unit is solid and very well made. THe mounting flange mates perfectly with my NEC 20" LCD monitor and the included screws fit as they should. In a few minutes I got my desk back! What's strange about this unit however is that even after I used a carpenter's level to mark the placement of the mounting holes on the wall, I found that the LCD is still not level when the entire setup is assembled. This means remounting the whole assembly at once rather than the mount and then the monitor (which is what the instructions show). This seems needlessly inefficient and a little precarious since the monitor and mounting hardware are all hanging by one screw while it's being done. Some users may not even worry about the screen not being level, but mine is mounted in front of picture frames and the out-of-level condition is conspicuous by comparison. (Dry wall anchors are included with the unit, but I strongly suggest not using them; find a wall stud and mount it right. Correction: these are concrete anchors, not for drywall. My concern is that someone might use them in drywall instead of screwing directly into a stud, which would be unfortunate to say the least when the screen hits the floor.)

I'm downrating this product BEFORE I actually use it to hopefully catch your attention BEFORE you buy it! I read a bunch of reviews here, mostly favorable. One noted the itme pictured here on Amazon is different then what came. TRUE. It is also DIFFERENT than the item in the PDF from the Peerless site!! Seems there are 3 LCS-KLA'a but nobody (Peerless) has bothered to revision them ie. -1 -2 -3 etc. What I thought was the one in the PDF was the correct one, WRONG. The one pictured on the Peerless site IS the correct one. So it has a flat/squareish TV side plate with eight ROUND screw holes (not tear shaped) and it does NOT roll +/- 5 degrees. If you've ever hung a TV before tear shaped screw holes let you hang the TV on the already wall mounted arm EASILY! The 5 degree roll lets you correct a less than perfect install. I'm am currently waiting for a call back from a Peerless tech. I showed the CSR the bad PDF.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great price and product. Wish it had the ability to rotate the display., September 27, 2007

This review is from: Peerless Articulating Wall Mount For Up To 22" Display - Vesa 75/100MM (Silver) (Electronics)
First, let me start by saying that this item is not the one you see pictured above. The arm has two parts, one upper and one lower, not the upper, middle, and lower that you see above. Actually, I think the product that I received is nicer looking than the picture above. The product works great and is very solid. I'm not sure what others were talking about with the screws. I used a #3 phillips head on my drill and they went into the wall no problem after pre-drilling the holes. If you use the right head they will not strip.

This is my first VESA mount and I learned a valuable lesson. I think that all VESA mounts should have the feature that allows the display to be rotated. The reason I say this in not just because my display is capable of displaying at 90 degrees. I am saying it because even though I leveled the arm very carefully if you are off by just a millimeter that millimeter will translate out to about a half-inch of tilt when you extend the monitor completely away from the wall. When I first extended it out I thought I had made a mistake but when I rechecked at the wall the arm was level. I was able to fix the issue by extending it from the left instead of the right but I cannot extend it all the way out without noticing the tilt. The ability to rotate would eliminate this issue. One way you could probably avoid this is to attach your monitor to the arm, extend it all the way out and then have someone level and mark it at the wall while you hold it in place. That way you would be leveling it at the fully extended position instead of simply at the wall.

Here is a tip for attaching your monitor to the arm. Unbolt the front portion of the arm from the back portion. Attach it to your monitor while it is safely laying on a towel on your desk. Reattach the two portions of the arm. This is much easier than trying to mount the monitor to the arm while it is attached to the wall and is able to be done with one person because you just have one bolt to attach.

Very strong and the price was great but....
I am a professional builder and the mount is out of level. I mounted it twice using a 4 foot level and the monitor was out of level both times. I recommend attaching the monitor to the mount, have someone hold the entire setup against the wall and level it. Then mark the location of the two screw holes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not weight rated correctly, June 19, 2007
This review is from: Peerless Articulating Wall Mount For Up To 22" Display - Vesa 75/100MM (Silver) (Electronics)
Unfortunately this wall mount is not weight rated correctly.
It was recommended for my TV, which weighs 22.5 pounds, clearly within the 25lb limit.
However the joints are strained and the set sags out of level depending on how the arm is extended. I probably should of returned it, but after going to the trouble of mounting it to my wall, I'd rather not start over with another. After reading the good reviews, my guess is this mount works well with sets under 20lbs. If yours is heavier, I'd look elsewhere.

As others have mentioned, the mount works fine when installed.

Mounting it straight and level can be tricky. Some tips:

* Use one of the allen wrenches to remove the bolt in the middle of the articulating arm and separate the two arm parts. Attach the wall plate to the wall, and the vesa plate to the monitor. Then simply attach the two arm sections together.

* The monitor plate's pitch can be adjusted, that is it can be tilted back and forth. The manual doesn't mention it, however. Remove the two plastic covers and use the bigger allen wrench to loosen the bolt. Adjust pitch angle and tighten.

* Right - left adjustment is the trickiest. Do line up the holes before drilling them. Once mounted, if the monitor is not level, try loosening the wall mounting screws a bit, nudging the wall plate in the right direction and then tightening the screws.

You know, this thing works very well... but I still dont understand the price on these things! This is just metal and some screws.... sure seems like this and others should be $19.99 or less. When the mount costs you around 25% of the TV you are mounting... something is wrong...

Asside from my issues with the pricing, the product is really sturdy and works well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price, July 11, 2006
This review is from: Peerless Articulating Wall Mount For Up To 22" Display - Vesa 75/100MM (Silver) (Electronics)
I looked forever for a good low priced LCD arm. I needed one that swiveled all directions as I was mounting our new 17" AOC LCD TV at an odd angle, I couldnt find a better price than this anywhere!

The arm is solidly built and comes with all the hardware you will need to mount it.

Only 2 minor gripes. One the metal on this thing is coated somewhat cheaply, anywhere the arm touched the wall left long grey streaks before I got it solidly mounted. And two, the wall anchors that came packaged with it were far too small for the screws provided, I drilled a small hole into the wall got the anchors securely fasted and then tried to use the screws provided only to have the screws twist the anchor through the wall. I ended up find a stud and mounting it there and tossing the anchors but not after having to patch and paint a few holes in my wall.

For the money you cant beat this arm.

I bought this for my new 20" flat panel and it is perfect. I am one of those people who is appalled by the price of these things in the store. This was a great find and at a reasonable price. Very easy installation for the average "do-it-yourselfer". I also recieved it very fast. The only thing that I did'nt like were the 2-1/2" heavy duty zinc wood screws that came with it; and having done plenty of home improvements over the years I have this thing about zinc screws which unfortunately come with any product like this you buy. The problem is that by the time you've screwed that 2-1/2" screw in the wall you will have probably stripped the screw head out. I would advise using a ratchet with a screw head attachment. (Don't use an electric screwdriver) I prefer to use drywall screws instead which are very tough and wont strip under the same amount of torque.
