Perfect Small Mount,

This review is from: Peerless PA730-S Articulating Wall Mount for 10" to 22" Displays (Silver) (Electronics)
Great mount that is easy to install. I actually used it on a 24" iMac (slightly larger than the suggested range of displays) and it worked fine. At the maximum extension it was still stiff enough that no noticable sag occured. When the arm is fully extended the display has enough room to rotate a full 90 degrees so that it's perpendicular to the wall. However, this arm will not extend far enough from the wall so that the display will be able to be extended past an obstruction and rotated (like mounting it to a kitchen wall and being able to have the TV extend past wall cabinets and then turned 90 degrees); if you have a situation like this you'll probably need to buy a larger arm that will extend a greater distance from the wall. The reviews that suggest that this arm will not allow the display to be rotated are wrong. The plate that the display mounts to does, in fact, rotate. However, in order to keep the display from rotating on its own, the pivot for the rotation is very stiff. Without a display mounted to the plate you don't have enough leverage to rotate the mounting plate, but as soon as you mount the display, viola, you're able to rotate it to any angle you wish. All in all, this is a great little mount that allows you to neatly mount a flat panel display almost anywhere you want.

This review is from: Peerless PA730-S Articulating Wall Mount for 10" to 22" Displays (Silver) (Electronics)
I bought this mount to attach my Dell 2407WFP 24" monitor to my wall. It uses a 100x100 VESA mount, but this mount also has holes for the 75 version. Even though the specs only recommend up to 22", this mount is more than able to handle a 24" one (as several other people have noted as well). The weight limit is 25 lbs, and my Dell was only 14 lbs...so more than enough.
Shipment was smooth from Amazon as usual, and the package was small and well-packed. The mount itself is very well built, and the package includes the 2 wood screws for wall attachment and 4 small screws to attach the bracket to the monitor. It also includes 4 longer screws and 4 plastic spacers in case the mount won't fit flush to the monitor (like the way Dell makes their VESA mounts recessed; see photos). There are lots of instructions on the web for mounting, but in short: Find a wood stud. I used an $8 magnetic stud-finder that had excellent reviews on Amazon, and it was perfect. Hammer in a small penny nail to make sure you hit the stud, and then remove and hammer it in again about 1/2" on either side to make sure you are in the middle of the stud. Mark where you want the holes and be sure to use a level! I then pre-drilled the holes to full-depth with a 5/32" bit and then widened the first part with a 3/16" bit. 5/32" is a bit narrow for these screws and definitely taxed my driver as I screwed in the screws, but that's what I wanted so that I know it is as secure as possible! The screws are phillips, but have large/deep slots so you can use a big bit that won't strip them at all. Then hang the monitor (this part is definitely easier with two people since the monitor will have to be held in the air while the screws are attached. The cable management system is a bit of a joke, but does the job. It's all hidden by the monitor anyway, and if I really cared, I'd put a grommet in the wall to hide the cables completely. Now that it is installed and I've been using it, I can say that overall I have been 100% satisfied with this mount. It doesn't sag one bit with my 24" monitor attached, and all the joints function with just the right balance of smoothness and resistance. I am especially happy with how compactly the mount collapses against the wall, and also how far out it extends and rotates when I want to shift the position to watch TV from bed. The fact that this exceptional mount is also one of the cheapest is just icing on the cake! =)

Good solid product. Solid steel construction. I bought another Peerless wall mount after having a great experience with this one. It tilts which is good. It has a good rotation adjustment so if you don't hang the bracket perfectly square on the wall, you can rotate the TV so it is square to the ground.

I did extensive research because I needed a wall mount that would allow more than 15 degrees of tilt, as I needed to mount a tv very high in my tiny bedroom. This mount is exactly the one I needed. Instuctions were clear, mounting was easy, and no tension adjustments were necessary... although they can be adjusted. In general this mount cost much less than many comparable mounts, yet it is made very well. No complaints.

The sturdiness of this item impressed me, also the delivery time was very good. I believe I received it within 5 days by standard delivery. The one problem I have with it is that the tilt adjust socket screw wouldn't budge, so I had to do a work around and make a wedge for the bottom of the plate mount to raise the top to level the TV. I called Peerless to verify that it did not have a reverse thread, because I was afraid I would break the unit or strip the bolt head if I used any more pressure. The assured me it was not a reverse thread, but offered no advice as to how to remedy this problem. By the way, I used WD40 4 times over 4 hours to no avail. Very frustrating!

The title of this review says it all. We've only had it up for a dew weeks, but this wall mount looks likes it going to be there for years. Just make sure you find the stud (we didn't even us the anchors). It tilts (up & down) to change viewing angles (just remove the plastic knobs on the back and use one of the enclosed Allen Keys). Doesn't really hid the coaxial cables, but other than that it is 5 stars.

I use this mount on a 17" TV over the breakfast bar in my dining room. The full 180 degree motion makes it easy for my kids to view it facing the dining room, or myself to view it while cooking in the kitchen. I'm not worried about my kids swinging it through the range of motion because this thing is built like a tank and I have it sunk into studs. The TV won't last forever, but this mount should!

This is a a very sturdy mount. I would have given 5 stars, but the quality of the finish has gone down a bit from a very similar mount I purchased two years ago from the exact same manufacturer (i.e. there were a couple of smudges & beading in the paint finish on this one). However, no one really sees it anywaywhen it's behind the monitor .

I have mounted a 19" lcd on this (with a full size HDtv external Antena) and it holds it with no problem. And the arm moves easily when you want and stays put when where you move it.

I bought one simply to get more usable space on my desk surface by ditching the monitor base. This was the cheapest mount of good quality I could find that allowed for tilt and side-to-side angle adjustment. When pushed flat against it also holds the monitor closest against the wall of almost all the other mounts I looked at.
Construction is sturdy. You will likely have to make some minor adjustments to the bolts in the pivots to make it move smooth and creak free, but I think that is normal for a bushing type joint like these. I tweaked it about and now it feels great, although I really don't move it much. |
