4.0 out of 5 stars Heavy-duty TV wall mount works well
The Peerless PT660 tilting wall mount worked out well. It's heavy-duty, so it will support up to 100 lbs and it comes with a large variety of fasteners so that you can attach it to about any wall surface. In my case, it was for a Samsung 50" plasma set that went above a fireplace. The mounting bracket was installed to the sheetrock - or more specifically to the 2 studs...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but the design has some flaws
I ordered the Peerless PT660 because it was guaranteed to fit my 46" TV, which it did. Overall I am happy with it; however the design is not without flaws. I have used this wall mount in a recessed space in the wall. The recess is about 5 inches deep and it is very hard to reach behind the wall mount in order to secure the 2 screws that hold the TV to the bottom of the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Heavy-duty TV wall mount works well, August 8, 2008

This review is from: Peerless PT660 Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 32" to 60" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
The mounting bracket was installed to the sheetrock - or more specifically to the 2 studs behind the sheetrock (usually spaced 16" apart) - with 4 large lag screws and washers. The mounting bracket itself is on the order of 32", so you can only attach it to 2 studs at best. Once you figure where the mounting bracket goes and level it - then attach it to the wall. The 2nd part that attaches to the TV required no spacers - just 4 bolts - for a simple attachment. The hardest part is lifting your TV up and onto the wall mount. Have at least 2 people available for this. I used 3 people: 2 to lift the TV and 1 to hold the attached cables out of the way and into their proper position on the fireplace mantle. I recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good, August 25, 2008

I was definitely skeptical at first, given the low price compared to the $400-$500 mounts you can buy at the big retail stores.

I hung it above my fireplace in my new home that was studded for a plasma TV. Easy as pie with a small socket wrench (don't try to screw them in by hand). And definitely get someone to help you hang it if it's a big TV like mine. I have a 52" Sharp Aquos Flat Panel, model number 52D82U.

It's been on the wall for about a month now. I check the screws on the back every few days to make sure the TV is secure. So far, so good. Has shown no signs of slipping or anything else that would make me have a heart attack.

Those who are trying hard to figure out how to assemble this thing--MOSTLY TRYING TO TILT THE THING!--should calm down and relax. Don't worry. It tilts. It works. You don't have to remove or force anything. You see, I had a problem with the tilting mechanism, too. It seemed like one or two of the bolts that were locking the angle position would simply not let me tilt. I thought the bracket was permanently locked unless I should remove something (which I thought, very unlikely). So, I called the Peerless customer service to ask if I need to remove one of pressure-attached bolts to make it move. The answer was, no. In fact, I must not remove any of the bolts--they are very important for pivoting motion. They explained that the device is "pre-tensioned," which means I cannot change the angle by my bare hands until I completely install everything on the wall; i.e. the mechanism is built very tough, and I should use the weight of TV to tilt it up and down. Hmmmm... I was first suspicious. Okay, TV's really heavy, but in my opinion, a regular adult male should be able to do the same. The Peerless answered no-don't-even-try, but we did, it didn't work... and then, voila!!! It really tilted when we installed everything on the wall and slightly pressed it down. Unbelievable, but it really happened.

Based on some of the previous reviews, I agree that the manual is not in detail enough and installation process can be quite hideous in the end (if you really want to lock every bolt in--you would need a long driver and have a hard time to screw them back in). Fortunately, the Peerless provides a decent customer service, and you can easily get help and solve the problem.

I also agree that this is one hell of sturdy device. My only issue here was that the lack of details in manual and the tilting mechanism which was a pain in a butt in the beginning and in the end. If it was a little more convenient to play around, I could give 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peerless Flat panel mount, March 9, 2010

This review is from: Peerless PT660 Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 32" to 60" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased the Peerless Flat Panel Tilting-Mount for my 55 inch Samsung LED TV (8500 series) and the installation and mounting was very easy. The TV slides effortlessly along the horizontal plane once installed, making it easy to get it in just the right spot. The package comes with an enormous selection of hardware to attach the tilting portion of the mount to the TV. It has both fixed and tension adjustable tilting. Also, a great feature is the ability to tilt the TV out from the wall by pulling the bottom out, allowing easy access to the cables on the back of the TV. I feel very confident that the mount will last indefinitely. I was very satisfied with my selection!

Overall very satisfied with purchase. I have a 42" LG hanging on the wall and have no concerns about it coming down. Only giving 4 stars because I have metal stud walls, and the mount does not come with the necessary hardware -- needed toggle bolts. I ended up ordering the proprietary bolt that peerless offers for metal studs from CSN stores, so the process took an extra week. Besides that, very solid mount.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value but several design flaws, June 29, 2009

This review is from: Peerless PT660 Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 32" to 60" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
I am very mechanically inclined so you can't fault the installation. Starting out with the good. The frame is heavy duty, comes with detailed installation instructions written by a native english speaker and they have nice and tidy plastic bags labeled with all the key parts. Negatives were the tv part of the unit doesn't really sit solidly into the wall plate until you tighten down the fastening screws. Even when it was tightened down the ridges aren't totally aligned almost as if the CAD program had messed up the precision match of the plate to the TV bracket. The other big issue is the unit can not be easily tilted. For me this was a minor point as I have no interest in tilting it around once I set up the perfect tilt. However for some people this is a key feature and I would not buy it if that was key for you. All in a good product but I really had to manipulate the plates to get them to align properly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, October 25, 2008
This review is from: Peerless PT660 Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 32" to 60" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
This mount works great. The directions could have been a little clearer, so some time was spent tying to find the right screw and how to operate the tilt mechanism, but after you figure it out, the mount does a solid job.

4.0 out of 5 stars works well, but need to take down tv to adjust angle, September 30, 2008

looks good, low-profile (good if that is what you want, but harder to fit wires and surge protector behind it--not the bracket's fault, though), works fine.
however, you need to pull tv from wall to adjust angle, so it takes a little longer to do that than with a more expensive bracket which you can adjust without removing the tv.
i mounted 40-inch samsung ln40a550 tv very easily.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, slighly difficult install over fireplace, September 22, 2008

This review is from: Peerless PT660 Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 32" to 60" Displays (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this mount for a Samsung PN50A550. My studs are a little more than 20" apart. Installation was pretty easy. The difficult part was tightening the screws on the bottom. My tv is mounted above a fireplace with a small 8 in shelf so I cannot look directly up underneath the tv to get to the screws. The tv is so close to the wall that trying from the sides was a bit difficult. Suggestion, turn the screws before mounting so that they are threaded.
If you cannot easily lift over 100lbs, get someone to help. It was a bit challenging to lift but my wife helped guide me. The shelf of the fireplace was also good to rest it on while lifting.

The recess is about 5 inches deep and it is very hard to reach behind the wall mount in order to secure the 2 screws that hold the TV to the bottom of the bracket. The tilt mechanism works fine once the TV hangs on the bracket; however the bolt that secures the angle is hard to reach as well. May work better on a flat wall but I think there are wall mounts out there using an easier design. Some reviewer's had problems with the tilt function but that part actually worked well for me. The sturdiness of this wall mount is very good.
