3.0 out of 5 stars OK if you have to mount on three wall studs
If you have a large, heavy plasma TV and you need to span three 18" centered wall studs, this is one of your very few choices in the $100-$200 range. It took ordering three different wall mounts before I found this one because the specs on Amazon (and other sites for that matter) are either confusing or flat-out wrong. This review is from: Peerless ST670P Tilt Wall Mount for 42" to 71" Displays (Black) Non-security (Electronics)
I purchased this wall mount for a new Pioneer PDP-6010FD 60" plasma flat screen, and can highly recommend this mount. It is engineered and built with superior construction quality, easily holding my plasma TV weighing about 150 pounds (rated up to 250lbs). Mounting the universal bracket to the back of the plasma was extremely easy, just four bolts and washers (provided) that locked down, make for an extremely rigid mounting of the TV onto the bracket.

Since this mount covers televisions up to 71", it should work for most sets, as long as the maximum horizontal distance between the mounting holes is about 35" or less (check the product manual to get the exact maximum distance). The bracket's width and weight handling capacity requires that you mount it onto 3 wall studs, as it is approximately 40" wide. However, this actually helps you with mounting the bracket in a very level manner.

Here is a short narrative of how you go about mounting your TV using this wall mount. First, locate the center stud that will be used as the center mounting point, and use one of the provided lag bolts to mount the bracket on the wall at the desired location, using the topmost center hole on the wall bracket. Now mount your level on top of the bracket and using the installed center bolt as a pivot, rotate one side of the bracket or the other until your level indicates that the mount is perfectly level. Now using a marker pen, mark the two points to be drilled on the left and right outer studs, perfectly centered in the desired mounting holes. Drill the appropriate holes, then screw in the lag bolts, fixing the bracket into a perfectly level position. Now mark, drill for, and mount the remaining 3 bolts (there are six total, two at each end and two in the center mounting positions.)

The final step is to mount your TV onto the wall bracket and secure it. With help from a friend, securely grasp the TV and "hook" it onto the wall bracket. From underneath, reach behind with a standard or phillips head screw driver and secure the lock screw on the bottom of each bracket hook. This final step secures the TV to the wall mount.

I'll tell you, I live in the heart of earthquake county in SoCal, and I fully believe that my house will suffer damage well before this TV comes off the wall in a seismic event.

Overall, this wall mount is well worth every penny. Like always, Amazon comes through with a great product at a good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value, June 15, 2008

Easy to install, fastens to three studs (16" centers), comes with a vast quantity of hardware, great instructions, and will hold just about any TV. I bet my 52" Samsung will still be on the wall when the only thing left are roaches! Well worth the few more dollars than the smaller mounts.
BTW: downstairs I used the Sanus VMDD26B Universal Articulating mount for my 52" Sony... in comparison, it costs 4-times as much, had less hardware, weighs 3-times as much, and the instructions are less-than-easy to follow... mostly pictograms with few words. It does allow more movement which I needed.

Most of the time when they give you dimensions, it's the size of the carton that they give rather than the size of the mounting bracket itself. I even contacted a real person at Amazon for the info on my second try and she was just as wrong as I was the first time. Why it's so hard for a company to add a couple of inches to a wall bracket mystifies me, but there are hundreds of $100 mounts that go 30" and only one or two (like this one) that are longer. So, unless you want your $2000 TV dangling precariously 16" over from two studs in your wall, get one that spans more than 36" like this one. The major complaint I have on this particular unit is that the adjusting knob that is supposed to allow you to tilt the screen up or down a bit (handy for getting to cables and such after installation) is designed in such a way that the bracket's proximity to the wall prevents you from loosening it. So once you've got your behemoth screen in place, you're stuck with whatever angle you've set it at. Over all, though, it's a sturdy mount with one main problem, and if you're willing to live with that design flaw--go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mount for a Plasma, January 15, 2007
This review is from: Peerless ST670P Tilt Wall Mount for 42" to 71" Displays (Black) Non-security (Electronics)
This was so easy to install. The end product looks great. I installed it over 3 wood studs and it held my full weight of 150 pounds with no problem. You will definitely need another person to lift the television onto the bracket. The tilt function works great and is so simple that you can change the tilt with one hand from the front of the television. There is a lot of different size bolts included for mounting all kinds of televisions.

I would definitely reccomend this to anyone looking for a simple effective mount for their plasma.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Constructed Wall Mount, January 19, 2009

This review is from: Peerless ST670P Tilt Wall Mount for 42" to 71" Displays (Black) Non-security (Electronics)
As an aerospace structural engineer I was gratified to open the box and find a well constructed sturdy wall mount. M8 bolts are over two inches long, and when properly installed, really connect well into the wooden studs behind my wall. Lots of capability in tension and shear. I used a stud finder to find the six locations to screw in the base plate. Yes, this design picks up three studs, rather than most other designs that pick up only two. Depending on your stud locations (you better check before purchasing...) that might be very important. I attached the two brackets to the fifty inch plasma set. I got my wife to help lift the set up and there it was, attached to the wall. The tilt adjustment comes in handy in my case where the set is located above the fireplace, in a fairly high position. I tilted the screen downward a bit and locked in the settings. It's a good product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well designed, easy to install, December 1, 2008

This review is from: Peerless ST670P Tilt Wall Mount for 42" to 71" Displays (Black) Non-security (Electronics)
I bought this mount to use behind a Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV. It was easy to install on the wall, and the length enabled me to secure it to 3 wall studs. I also used 2 toggle bolts on both the top and bottom rails, but I'm sure it would have been fine without them. It is holding the TV up very well. I have no worries about it coming loose from the wall.
The only things holding it back from 5 stars in my opinion are that the instructions are not real clear as to how to set the tilt angle. I did what they said but the bracket still wouldn't tilt. I figured out that you have to loosen the two small Allen head screws below the tension adjuster. Once I figured that out, it was easy to adjust.
The other issue is that the security screws in the TV brackets are very hard to get to when the TV is on the wall. It took my son and I both to get it done. He used a socket with extension and a Phillips bit to turn the screws, while I had to cram my hand between the TV and the wall to keep the bit in the head of the screw. I had to take the TV down once, and trying to get those screws out was a NIGHTMARE! Once the screws are tightened down, you can not see the head of the screws! My advice: replace the screws with some that are at least twice as long.
Other than those two things, I am very happy with this mount. I am cofident it will hold the TV securely as long as it's needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, sturdy economical mount, July 16, 2008
This review is from: Peerless ST670P Tilt Wall Mount for 42" to 71" Displays (Black) Non-security (Electronics)
Used this mount to hang my 50" Samsung plasma above my fireplace. The directions were easy to follow and its ability to mount to 3 studs give it a very sturdy feel.

My only caution is if you have your power outlet and or HDMI wallplates where the mount will sit on the wall, it doesn't give any clearance for these. There are square holes on the back, but your wallplates better match up *exactly* for them to work. I was lucky and was able to jury-rig it up there, but I would highly recommend you place your outlets below the mount if you have that luxury.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, June 12, 2008

This review is from: Peerless ST670P Tilt Wall Mount for 42" to 71" Displays (Black) Non-security (Electronics)
I ordered a Sanus 32-50" wall mount for my 50" Samsung plasma, but due to the 24" spacing between studs in my wall, and the large width between bracket holes on the back of my tv, I couldn't mount it without my TV being off center horizontally on my wall.
I then looked for a wider mount, and found the Peerless ST670P. It was wide enough to still grab two studs, and accomodate the greater bracket width of my tv, and the end result is my plasma perfectly centered on my wall. Installation is very simple and straightforward - you really do need a stud finder and level. It comes with all the bolts you need, and where the Sanus came with M8 bolts that were too long that I would have had to cut to fit my tv, the Peerless model came with 3 different lengths of M8 bolts, so the bracket installation into my TV was perfect.
Quality construction. I really recommend this product, and will be buying another when I get another plasma one day!

The construction and sturdiness of this mount is great! The only drawback is the adjustment of it. Due to the adjustment knobs, you're not able to adjust it on the wall using the turn knobs but can adjust it by hand then screwing in the fasten screws... This works and is not too much trouble but it would have been nice to make the knobs circular to accommodate this. Also, when you first get a hold of the brackets you'll think they don't tilt. This is no problem as once the TV is mounted it will tilt.

This is my third Peerless and I do recommend them.

This TV mount works well enough,if you can figure it out.The directions are almost useless.I called the factory for directions and the woman I talked to was rude and no help. After enlisting my wife and friends help, we discovered how to mount and operate this mount.
