5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Effective
Had this model for a year now.

It comes in a couple pieces that just snap together, no tools needed.

Has a very stable base, I constantly put steel toed work boots on it with no wobble.

As has been stated it is a simple plug-in design, with no moving parts. I use a light timer, in the winter, to cycle it on and off depending on my shift...

1.0 out of 5 stars Ummm...it MELTED!
Used it a total of three times. First and second times it was only for about an hour each. Third time was supposed to be overnight but about 5 hours in, the SMELL woke me up! I was woken up by the strong smell of burning rubber and plastic. The plastic tubes had completely melted and my husbands work boots had melted/burned the cushioned top. I will be contacting the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Effective, August 19, 2009

Had this model for a year now.

It comes in a couple pieces that just snap together, no tools needed.

Has a very stable base, I constantly put steel toed work boots on it with no wobble.

As has been stated it is a simple plug-in design, with no moving parts. I use a light timer, in the winter, to cycle it on and off depending on my shift work schedule.

The bottom is open.
When I don't need the heat, just some air flow to dry my work boots out, I simply place the dryer over a floor vent. I usually have the fan of my air conditioning/heating system running anyway and this allows air to be blown through the dryer.

With the dryer plugged in it draws 36 watts.

5.0 out of 5 stars This'll git 'er done, November 2, 2008

I've used one of these for three years now with excellent results for hiking boots, Nordic ski boots, athletic shoes and rubber/leather pacs. Although the heat level is very modest - and therefore protects your footwear and keeps the electric bill low - it will thoroughly dry all but the very soggiest boots in a few hours. Also, it seems to eliminate any foul odors (who me?) in athletic or street shoes.

Here's a hot tip: put your already-dry winter boots on this Peet dryer before venturing out on a frigid morning and your feet will be truly toasty!

I've seen much fancier boot dryers and I see even Peet now makes a fancier version. And this product seems a bit pricy for something so simple that has no moving parts. But I'm not tempted to get anything else because this simple model is foolproof and "gits `er done."

Highly recommended for anyone who ever gets their boots or shoes wet while exploring the surface of our beautiful planet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective but feels flimsy, March 9, 2009
By

(VINE VOICE)
I'll start by saying this dryer is almost solid plastic. It feels flimsy but does stay upright, even with shoes or boots on it. It does not have a switch, so the only way to turn it on or off is plug it in or unplug it. There is no fan, just gentle heat that rises through the tubes and into the shoes, so it is completely silent. The base does not get hot at all, so it does not seem to be much of a fire hazard.

That said, it is very effective. My adolescent is often offending me and others with the odiferous nature of his feet and footwear. I bought him two pairs of sneakers and he alternates them daily, but I still occasionally have to bleach them to rid them of the odor. I bought this, attached it to a 24-hour timer like one you would use for lighting, and it is set to turn on in the evening. He puts his shoes on this thing and two hours later, the timer shuts it off. No more odor. Problem solved.

Even when I have washed the shoes, it only took about 6 hours to dry them completely from a sopping wet condition. It is not as fast as a clothes dryer for that purpose, but it is certainly effective and does not shrink the leather.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peet Original vs Maxx Dry XL, January 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
There are many reviews on these two boot dryers so I will make it short. The Peet Original Dryer and the Maxx Dry XL are both excellent products. The Peet is absolutely silent, extremely efficient, rock solid stable and inexpensive. The plastic is good quality and the dryer is made in the USA. The boot points up at a greater angle than the Maxx Dry which really dries out the toe box. I think that my boots are dryer with the Peet unit, but they are on the unit for about nine hours verses three hours on the Maxx Dry. The Maxx Dry is made in China and the plastic is heavier than the plastic Peet uses. The fan does make some noise, almost like a bathroom exhaust fan. I like the fact that the Maxx Dry also dries gloves at the same time or a second pair of shoes. In my experience, the Maxx Dry is not quite as stable as the Peet Dryer and is more likely to tip over. I am in my work boots for fourteen to sixteen hours some days and nothing is better than dry boots the next morning. I use both dryers every day and would not be without them. As an added bonus, I can now keep my teenagers $100.00 running shoes from smelling and ending up in the trash before they are worn out. These dryers are very useful products in the home and very few people know about them. The first dryer that I bought years ago on sale lasted only about a month so I was surprised by the 25 year warranty on the Peet Dryer. I recommend both units, as each one has its advantages and both are well worth the purchase price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everybody should have one!, April 6, 2009

I love to wear my Timberland boots everyday... and they stink... but not anymore thanks to the PEET Shoe Dryer! I leave them drying all night every night and I do not have that problem anymore!
This product does what it says efficiently and quietly.
Note: if you have very stinky shoes, make sure to open up a window or use it outside 'cause all that smell is gona be blown out of your shoes and into the room! that's how powerful this thing is!

CONS: I wish it had a power on/off switch so that I wouldn't have to unplug it from the wall everyday when I'm not using it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, April 20, 2009
My husband had a problem with wet boots in the mornings, and this solved it right away. It is small and doesn't take up much space but it really gets the job done, no more wet boots. He puts them on the dryer in the evening and in the morning they are perfect. My ONLY complaint is that there isn't an on/off switch. Every time you need to use it or turn it off you have to plug it in, which gets to be a pain.

5.0 out of 5 stars saved my new boots, March 30, 2009
Ok, most people do not wear their new Columbia boots when walking on the beach on a stormy day. But I did. Very nice boots, water resistant - unless a wave fills them, which is what happened. I rinsed the salt water out and tried to use a towel, but really... Honest, when I bought the PEET Shoe Dryer, I did not think that it would actually work, but I just had to save my new boots. It was evening when the boots went onto the dryer and by early the next morning the boots were fully dry! As I walked around in my toasty warm boots my toes were trying to find hints of residual dampness... but there was none. I am so happy! This saved my new boots. Yes, they are just plastic and don't feel all that sturdy, but hey... they worked.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest products ever made., December 4, 2010
I gave one of the original M97 dryers as a gift nearly 20 years ago. Since then it has faithfully dried shoes, socks, gloves, hats and boots on a daily basis each and every winter. It also has helped with the occasional trek through a stream or marsh. The PEET Dryer is basically a part of the family. We love it. It does everything it is supposed to, and does so with elegant simplicity. Can't recommend it enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Beat it!!, April 16, 2009
This is a must for anyone who works in wet or just muddy conditions. I work in Construction so, I am often in the mud early on a project. I scrape the bulk of the mud off and set my boots ont the dryer, then in the morning I have warm and dry boots to put on and start my day. Also great for working around the barn. I would reccomend this to anyone and I have already gotten one co-worker to buy one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad for the price, but not too Good Either., November 17, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this item to dry mans sized shoes. I was a bit sceptical about it's performance, and my suspicions were correct. Someone said in a review it took about 6 hours to dry a pair of shoes for their kids, so I thought it would take twice that long for my mens shoes. It takes 24 hours for my size 11 tennis shoes, and if it is a pair of boots, count on two days. If you don't mind the wait, ok. The amount of heat there is at the end of the two rods is almost undetectable, but after 6 to 8 hours with wet shoes on them the feel is slightly warm and dry-ish around the inside upper surface area, but cold and wet everywhere else. I would like to see a version with around 100 watt output for the heat source. That might do the trick in a more reasonable amount of time. I believe these have a 42 watt output. Think of a 40 watt light bulb. They are flimsy so you will have to be careful. My guess is if I have to move then while heavy wet shoes are on them the riser rods will break, so be careful if you chose these. I give them 4 stars instead of 2 because they are not expensive, and not a bad price for what you get. If I had paid say 50 to 60 bucks, I would have given 1 or 2 stars.
