Really wanted this stroller to work out - but it just didn't,

Both my wife and I wanted a good lightweight stroller, easy to use (folds and opens easily, turns nicely, etc.) with accessories such as a tray for the baby and a decent sized basket - all for a reasonable price. The Peg Perego Vela 2011 satisfies all of these requirements, and is great to look at. At the store, we found it very light and easy to move around. The baby harness I think is actually a plus compared to the others. Everything from the big to the little features felt really good.
However, cut to a month and a half later - we've been through 2 of these now and the problems other reviewers have mentioned about the front wheels became an issue for us as well. The 1st stroller we had stopped turning left (unless you moved it back and forth more than a few times) after the first 3 weeks. We returned that and got another piece. The 2nd stroller though lasted only 2 weeks before the front wheels buckled on the side walk and then wouldn't turn well in either direction while moving forward. And we were actually being extra cautious with this one as we didn't want it to break down! Another problem we noticed with both the Vela strollers is that after a couple of weeks the front wheels started squeaking real loud at times. My conclusion is that it's a great concept for a lightweight stroller but its too fragile for any kind of daily use beyond taking it on smooth flooring. Definitely note the reviews here on Amazon about the front wheels - they are very fragile and will break down at some point before long. It's very disappointing because my wife and I liked it a lot (as did our son) and we really, really wanted it to work out for all the positives mentioned. But I am not willing to give the Peg Perego Vela another try after having tried out 2 of these. Lovely concept but poor execution by Peg Perego on the Vela.

Love this stroller but wears quickly,

The things I love about this stroller greatly - greatly! - outweigh the bad. The things I love: (1) So easy to maneuver. I have to laugh at people with these giant "Easy Walker" and Bugaboo and CitiMini strollers who cannot navigate their local Target without reclining the stroller onto its back wheels to turn it. This stroller turns with one hand and zips around tight corners easily. (2) It truly does collapse and open with one hand, which has been a life saver when I am out alone with the baby. I can hold him in my left arm and pull my stroller out of the trunk and unfold it with my right. (3) The safety straps are great - it gives him free range of movement to look around and move around, but keeps him in the seat. (4) Like the three cup holders! (5) It was easy to use this with the Peg Perego infant seat, which we also liked. We never "snapped" the infant seat into the stroller's hooks, we just set the seat down into the bucket of the stroller, which still felt secure enough for the flat terrain on which we walked.
The two negatives: (1) It is wearing out after six months of use - the under-stroller storage area has a hole or two in it already. Granted, we are hard on this stroller - we throw it in and out of the car every day and we have flown with it several times. But considering it's only been used for six months, one would think it would hold up better. And (2) I wish the sunshade was just a little bit bigger so that it could come down and cover more of my little one when we're out in the sun. But overall, a great stroller, for a great price.

I recently bought this stroller for my 2 year old and we are both very happy with it. I think the colors look a lot better in person than they do on the website. It manuevers well in stores, around displays and racks without getting stuck. I tried the 2010 in the store where I bought the 2011 and this one moves smoother than the 2010 (which had a different wheel design). Watch the detachable parent cup holder though, as it sits to the side and can get knocked off easily. I am probably going to have to buy a different cupholder to go with it.
The seat area is deep, which I really like for a toddler. I always had to remove the tray to get him out of his last stroller, a Graco Quattro, but I can pop him in and out of this one. The tray does swing open from either side or removes completely if you need it to. The seat sits up almost straight when you tighten the strap as far as it will go. This is a big plus for me because my son is not happy with a seat that leans back. Its very light, lighter than a Graco Metrolite by about 3 pounds. It folds up easily into a compact space and locks shut. It takes a couple tries to get the knack (have a baby store employee show you, it was immensely helpful). Once it is folded and locked, it stands up nicely, which I love. When I put it into the cargo area of my car, none of the wheels are touching the carpet surface below. What an unexpected bonus! I've have had eight other strollers over the years (4 Gracos, 3 different joggers and a cheapo umbrella) and the wheels always touched the carpet in my car. I had always kept a blanket or tarp under my strollers to protect the carpet, but I dont have to anymore. Even though I love it, I rated it four stars and not five becuase of the cupholder and because my son can reach into the basket underneath. Now that he has figured that out I have to be really careful what I put in there. 2115|R1P9M67GCX5QPF;2115|R2KNE20DU1WJ39;2115|R26E3KKJOLI2W7;
