Great product, terrible instructions,

My son is 7 and loves this thing!!! It goes at about a fast walk on level ground. We have a hilly yard and did does not get tired on the uphill areas. It does slip on wet grass and/or leaves. There is a small hook on the back and I can't wait to hook up a little wagon so he can run my yard and gardening tools around for me!
I am pretty handy, but the instructions that came with this product were terrible. (Worse than the kind that come with a LEGO kit for 8 year olds.) A few things your should know... The thing is held together by driving screws into plastic. That means the first time you put it together it will be very snug. But if you make a mistake and have to backtrack, the fit will not be as good. If there were terrific instructions, this would not be an issue. The instructions show how the pieces fit together and in the right order. However, there are about 15 screws of about 5 sizes. The instructions leave it to your best guess which go where. So when I got to the end I had a couple of screws left and a couple of holes left and they didn't match. Hints I can give are: 1. The 8 identical stubby screws hold the front and back decks on. 2. The front desk goes on first. I mistook the front of the diagram for the back and then had to backtrack. 3. Have a couple of extra small screws on hand. I think anyone with average skills can assemble this, but not with an excited kid helping. My recommendation is to go through all the instructions with all the parts and screws in one pile. As you go through more them into another pile. Then at the end, you can see what screws and holes are left and you can rethink where they go. Then get the kid to "help" once you know where everything goes.

We received our Polaris this week and it is amazing. We have three boys; 9, 7, and 4 1/2 and it works for all of them. We only let the 4 year use the low speed, however. The high speed is fast enough that our 9 year old is even impressed. We wanted a ride-on that would work well for all of our kids and this is definitely it. Two of them can ride together and not be over the weight limit, which is also nice. This has already provided hours of enjoyment for our boys and we are very happy with our purchase.

My boys used it twice before it broke(will only go in slow speed). The closest repair shop is 2 1/2 hours away. Also it will not carry a 3 and 6 year old(well under the weight limit) keeps cutting off. I bought them a peg perego gator 3 years ago and it has been great. I am very dissapointed.

This toy was great for the first 5 rides. Although it is a typical cheaply made battery operated toy, I felt it was safer than a gas powered childs size 50cc ATV. Long story short, it broke, wont run, even though battery says fully charged. Mind you I have had it less than a month! My child is less than 50 pounds, and never "pounded" on it at ALL!
Called the company Peg Perego, and they just informed me since I bought through Amazon.com there is NO WARRANTY! I am furious. Amazon never disclosed this! I assumed(shame on me) it would have a year warranty as the manufacturer states. So now I am stuck with a brand new, non-operational made in China piece of $500- crap. Way to ruin Christmas Amazon

We received this item very quickly, great price, great shipping cost! Very powerful with the 24 volt battery. We have the 12 volt version as well and none of my kids want to drive that one anymore!

My son started out with the standard 12V ride-on from Toys R Us. After many many hours of use, he outgrew it. He loved riding his old one so much that I searched high and low for something that would accommodate his size. This is the perfect ride-on for the older kids. It allows up to 150 lbs, so he will not outgrow it before he simply wears it out. We've had it for 9 months, he is a CRAZY driver, and it shows no signs of wear except the tires get scuffed up. Great product!

We have owned Peg Perego and Fisher Price - all 12 volt batteries. This was our first 24-volt purchase. We purchased this one in April and received it at the end of April. It did take some time for shipping (2 weeks if I remember correctly), so if you are ordering for a specific date, keep that in mind. My intention in buying this product was to give my 5 yo son a vehicle to drive since his 8 yo brother can drive our real quad. I also wanted to encourage his independence since he has slight cerebral palsy - doing things for himself is invaluable. He has really taken to driving it and is very good about manuevering around everything. Reverse and the foot pedal have easy for him to use.
PROS: First I'll start out by saying that my 5 year old is the primary one who rides this quad. He is a lightweight (about 4 lbs#, so the battery runs all day. His bigger #about 80 lbs# brother can ride it too with shorter battery life. I've ridden it too and I weigh about 130. I don't think the battery would work long, but it handled me just fine. AW, my 5 yo son loves, loves it. The happiness on his face is worth a lot. The extra speed #7 mph) is much more fun than the typical 5 mph, and my 5 yo can maneuver just fine. We won't go back to a 12 volt now. CONS: That being said, I do have some complaints. Building it wasn't the easiest experience mainly because the directions did not indicate which screw to use where. That led me to removing a few and replacing them with a different one...until I needed it somewhere else. Everything else was fairly easy to follow. Another thing is the durability. The first day of riding, the flag broke, which made my 5 yo cry until I told him he had a flag to play with. Within the first week, a tab on the front grill broke, the red seat fastener came off and a tab on the front cover at the hand grips broke, making it hard for the cover to stay on as well. Now we do have two boys, and I'm sure that had something to do with it. However, it would be nice if the frills on these toys were built to handle some roughness because it is an outdoor, fun toy that is to be thoroughly played with. It still looks good, but I have had to rig things to stay on or just take it off completely. I just hope the rest of it stays together so that my little one can get a few years of fun and I can get the money's worth from it! CONCLUSION: Knowing what I know, if I had the choice, I'd buy it again, but definitely not at full price! I think I'd be sick if I had paid over $600 for it. If we do need to have it worked on, then we will have to travel to a city

This would be a great toy if the quality was vastly improved. For $[...] I expected a lot more out of this product than was delivered. The battery only lasts about 30-45 minutes after a full charge, and the the lever switch that allows the machine to go backward and forward went out and the bike only goes in reverse now. I went to manufacturers web site looking for parts and couldn't find anything about ordering spare parts. This product is a lot of fun for the kids but it hasn't lasted very long and the overall quality is pitiful and not worth the price. We are going back to the Fisher Price riding vehicles for our kids, since you at least get what you pay for.

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter as she had quickly outgrown a power wheels brand four wheeler that she was sharing with my 2 year old son. It fits her well and she has a blast on it. It comes with the major components pre-assembled. The directions were OK, but I would have liked to have had an exact count layout of the screws and hardware as what I had in the bag didn't seem to match what the directions were saying. Also, the directions did not say which screw should be installed where and there were several different sizes.
I was alos missing one small piece that holds the flag in place. I quickly remedied this with some zip-ties, but it was not present in the kit. The final assembly only took a few hours with applying stickers another 2 hours. This should not be a problem as the battery needs an initial charge of 14 hours before riding anyway. Overall, I give it a 4 out of 5 as my daughter loves riding it and always has a huge smile on her face.

Our boys love it-- but can't wait to get outside. It slides on our basement floor-- one even tries to make it "drift". Good for kids up to 12 years old.
