I LOVE this chair!,

I've read some of the negative reviews, and to tell you the truth I don't understand them...we love this high chair. My daughter is now 14 months old, and we have been using this chair since she was about 6 months old and have loved it all the way through (especially when I compare it with the other high chairs I see friends trying to use.)Some of the features I love the most: 1) The double tray. It is great being able to lift off the top, lightweight tray after mealtime (with one hand) and carry it into the kitchen. I can pop a couple of toys on the main tray (which is of course completely clean) and my daughter will amuse herself for a long period of time while I get on with clean up and dishes or whatever. I've had no problems whatsoever fitting it into my standard-size sink for clean up. 2) The removable cloth seat cover is great! Unlike most high chair seats that are vinyl and padded, food doesn't get way down into crevices you can only reach with a knife or something like it. I found it very easy to remove and clean (mine didn't shrink at all, but I'm sure it's important to follow the washing instructions, which are to wash in cold and hang dry.) While the cover is in the wash, we just use the seat without it (it's vinyl or something like it, wipes clean.) 3) The 5-point harness. I was bewildered by the comments that this was hard to use or adjust...the shoulder straps unhook on the back of the chair, and there are different height holes to thread them through (like a carseat.) Once my daughter was sitting up well on her own, we just removed them altogether, which leaves a 3-point lap belt. And the straps adjust at the sides and at the crotch, which makes it easy to find the right fit as baby grows. 4) This seat collapses down very well, so much so that we have collapsed it and thrown it in the back seat of our car (just a sedan, nothing big like an SUV or minivan) and taken it with us to the grandparents' houses. All in all, I really couldn't be happier with this chair, and it is the ONE item we spent more money on than other things cost that I would definitely do over again!

Yes, it's difficult to clean...but it's still a great chair!,

If you look across the reviews of the entire Peg Perego line, you'll find lots of differing opinion on this highchair. I don't think I'll convince anyone to buy it or not buy it. So, here are our favorite features and biggest annoyances. For the record, we (my wife and I) like it a lot. You make up your own mind. What's good about it: What's not so good about it: The Peg Perego is definitely high end (from its quality to its price). But it is durable and generally user-friendly. Regardless, we would buy it again, and we think you'll probably be satisfied with it.

When we began looking for a highchair for our daughter we gathered as much info as possible and we were still confused! It seemed we read alot of conflicting info on what was good or bad about different models and brands. We were happy with a PegPerego stoller we had purchased and felt pretty confident about staying with the same line. We then read the reviews and started to have doubts. What finally sold us was looking in the store. Anyone who walked buy us and had a PegPerego highchair, gave it a glowing recommendation. After several similar comments we bought this chair. Now, having used it for several months we are very pleased with our decision. It looks great and has met every expectation we've had. The best feature is the double tray. It has made cleanup so easy. I can not understand the complaints of the brand being difficult to keep clean? My husband and I decided we will give this advis to any confused people either in the aisle looking at highchairs or online!

Not as good as I was hoping...,

For all the extra money I had to spend on this chair, I expected it to be perfect. I have to say I'm disappointed. First of all, I should've chosen the leatherette cover. It's not as attractive as the fabric cover, but I think it would've been much easier to clean. The fabric cover is NOT easy to remove. Secondly, the straps! What on earth were they thinking? There are long, cumbersome straps everywhere! My baby is constantly getting a leg or an arm tangled up in them. And what's more, they're not even helpful. There's a shoulder harness which I think I'm going to cut off. In order for a shoulder harness to restrain a baby's shoulders, it has to be tethered at shoulder height, correct? But it's not! It's tethered down at the waist. What possible good is that going to do? And the waist harness requires two hands, which is a pain. I'd like to be able to hold my daughter in place with one hand, and undo the straps with the other. Bottom line, I think all those long straps pose more of a hazard (potentially strangling the baby) than having no straps and just relying on the tray and the crotch bar to keep baby in.The casters on this chair are great and the one-hand tray release is what sold me on this in the first place. Those are two extremely important features, so I guess they balance out the problems. But for this much money, there shouldn't be any problems.

Perego by far makes the best high chairs. This is my second one my son used his until he was three. The material is lovely and cleans very easily. The positions are what makes the high chair so great. My daughter loves to play in it after she eats and has even fallen asleep in it which makes the reclining position so great. This high chair is more than worth the money.

This is by far, the best high chair! The tray releases and can be removed easily with one hand. It is very sturdy and safe. The seat has a five-point harness and a plastic piece in between the legs, to keep your child from slipping out. The cloth cover wipes clean and can be removed for a better cleaning in the washing machine. The seat reclines and the chair can be rolled around. This is the most sturdy highchair and easily operated (especially when your holding a baby in one arm). It is pricey but worth the cost if you plan on using it for more than one child.

I love this high chair. I spent a lot of time researching high chairs and this one was the only one that fit all of my requirements: nesting trays for easy cleaning, no extra compartments in the tray, a fabric cover that comes off for cleaning with vinyl underneath, and able to be reclined. I love that the whole tray can come out easily with only one hand and that the top part of the tray comes off to clean. I washed the cover for the first time today (the chair's been in use for four months now...it needed it). I had a feeling it would be a hassle to get off and back on, which is why I waited so long to wash it. But, it wasn't difficult at all. I didn't even need to look at the directions. This high chair is expensive, yes. Sometimes products are expensive for a reason - this one is easy to use and durable. I like things that are easy to use and durable, even if they cost a little bit more (we've also got the Britax Roundabout and MacLaren Techno - I support them both, too). My advice...get a proud grandparent (or great-grandparent) to splurge on this for you if the cost freaks you out. You'll be glad you did.

The best baby item we own,
By Twin Mom (Dayton, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peg Perego Prima Pappa Multi-Position Dual Fabric High Chair - Chesapeake (Baby Product)
I truly can not figure out what people are complaining about with this chair. This is the best item we own!!! We have had a Prima Pappa high chair since our daughter was born 5 years ago and used it nearly everyday since she was 6 months old. We have a small kitchen so we really appreciated the convenience of the folding. We unfolded and folded this chair for every feeding as well as threw it in the trunk to take to Grandma's. People who are complaining about cleaning this seat must not be cleaning it after every use and that is really unsanitary. Like everything else that everyone owns, if you clean things after every use they will stay clean. Fresh food is much easier to clean that dried on food. I've never had any problems with cleaning it. When my daughter was about a year old I found another one of these in a consignment shop for half the retail price so I bought it to keep at my Mom's house. Boy am I glad that I did that because now we have twin boys and we are so glad to have 2 of these highchairs. The one I bought secondhand has a white leather seatcover. I was really worried about this, but it has always been easy to clean and never stained even from ketchup or tomato sauce. I also don't understand the complaint someone had about it scratching their wood floor because both my Mom and I have wood floors and we've never had a scratch. It must be the kind of floor she has. My daughter has used this chair for eating, watching TV, painting, coloring, and more for 5 years. She did not want to give it up for her brothers. I have several friends that have these as well and their children have used them a very long time too. It is a very versatile seat. One person wrote they didn't use the recline because they don't let their baby sleep in the high chair. The recline is not for sleeping! It is for feeding babies when they first begin solids and it is better to feed them semi-upright because their food goes down better and also because infants 5-8 or sometimes even 9 months don't sit upright well. This highchair will be the one baby item that we keep until we have grandchildren. I think this must be a very popular highchair because when we bought ours 5 years ago there was nothing like it on the market and now Evenflo, FisherPrice, and Baby Trend have copied Peg Perego.

BEWARE - this specific model is discontinued -,

What that means is amazon still has stock, but if something is wrong, you cannot get a replacement.
I assume this is a good high chair, but I simply don't know because we were not able to use it. We got it as a gift in August of 2004, but didn't open until November, because we had a new baby - that was our fault. True to form, when we did open it there was a problem. The locking mechanism was broken on one side so the baby and the seat would fall to the ground and the main tray would not come off properly. Amazon wouldn't help as it was past their 30-day limit. I called Peg Perego and they said that this product was already out of their 1 year warranty. If I wanted them to potentially fix this I would have to prove to them that it was bought recently and then they may or may not fix it. I would have to go back and get a credit card statement from my mother-in-law. (sounds like fun, huh?) The only help I have recieved at all was from Babies R Us. Who is working this out. While this may be a great product, I would stear clear of this specific model because there are no replacements out there and the Peg Perego isn't too keen on fixing them.

Not really worth the money,
This review is from: Peg Perego Prima Pappa Multi-Position Dual Fabric High Chair - Chesapeake (Baby Product)
We bought this chair when our son was 6 mos old, he's now 13 mos. I wish I had bought a different chair. It's true that food gets stuck *everywhere* and it drives me crazy. We even have a cover that goes over the top but it's still messy. The tray doesn't fit into my dishwasher, but that's ok. At least it's removable. I've never adjusted the height or reclined my son, so that feature isn't helpful to me. I do like the wheels, but many other brands have wheels. I've never folded it up. The thing I REALLY DISLIKE is that the tray does not come close enough to my son...there is still a huge gap and food is ALWAYS falling on his lap. You would have to have a really big baby for the chair to properly fit him/her. So, I'm thinking of buying a less expensive chair that fits him properly. Really, it's not worth the extra$$.
