I saw this at Toys R Us and just had to have it so I purchased it for my 2 year old daughter for Xmas. I just finished putting it together and I do have to say that I am very impressed with the detail and workmanship. The only negative thing I found is that charging the battery is going to be a pain. You have to lift up the hood, remvove a screw, then lift up the engine and unplug the battery. It does have hard plastic tires and the traction won't be the greatest though it is very sufficient for sidewalks and pavement and maybe the yard. Don't expect to pull stumps up with this. After watching my neighbors take their "Power Wheels" quad runners and slamming them into reverse when going full speed forward I understand why they don't have a rubber track tire. When you read reviews of other vehicles complaining about traction please keep that in mind. If you take care of this (like my 5 year old has his motorized Jeep) it will last many years.

We purchased this tractor this summer for our 3 1/2 year old. He adores it and spends much of his time tooling around the yard helping with the yard work. I like it because it's light enough for me to put in the back of our van and take to Grandparents house where they have more land he can ride around on. It works great on the grass. We have had no problems with and parts breaking other than the front plastic bumper doesn't seem to click together as well as I would like. The battery charges fine and works for hours. I like that is has a lock for 1 to 2 speed. Our son insists on 2 speed now because he is really good at driving and backing up...he is only allowed to use that at the Granparents though because there is more wide open spaces :) Over all I think this is a great toy.

We bought this for our 30 month old daugher about a month ago at Walmart. This tractor is smaller than some of the other ride on toys and my daughter fits it really well.

Assembly was straightforward. The decals are nicely done and it's worth taking the time to get them right.

I purchased a spare battery with the tractor thinking that the batteries running down would be a problem. It turns out the spare battery is much larger than the one that comes in the tractor (12Ah vs 8Ah) and I suspect is sized for the JD Gator ride on. Fortunately, the battery compartment is designed to accomodate either battery. The battery life with the large battery is great. She rides the tractor every day all over our farm, picking up sticks from the yard, following the dog, helping her mom move gravel, picking up stones in the garden, hauling strawberries up to the house, towing picnic lunches back to the hilltop, joyriding, etc. and the battery has never run down. We do put it on the charger every night. We have never used the smaller battery so I don't know how that would do. I saw in one review that it was difficult to access the battery for charging. There is a screw to hold down the battery cover but it also has plastic catches on it. I just leave the screw out and no problems.

Traction was an issue initially. We live on 25 acres of rolling hills and much of it is meadow which is much rougher than yard. The tractor initially got stuck too easy. I added traction by pop riveting "cleats" I cut from an old mudflap onto the rear tires. It is now unstoppable. If you do something like this be aware that the increased traction adds to the risk of injury and makes it even more important that the child is properly supervised.

The trailer became difficult to unhook as the catch on the plastic pin had become deformed. I made up a proper drawpin out of an old cap screw which took care of that. We also added a bicycle safety flag so the tractor is easier to see.

Low gear is perfect for tractor work. High gear is very fast. We walk around the back every night and our daughter drives the tractor. We probably walk for a mile or two. There are a couple of big hills, some rough ground and muddy puddles to cross. The only times it now gets stuck is when she tries to head off through the hay, which is several feet tall (hence the safety flag). She likes to use high gear but it's too fast for us to easily keep up with her. The trailer is used all the time. She is always finding things to put in the trailer be it toys, wild flowers, stones from the trail, even a turtle once.

Our daughter used to ride with me all the time on the big tractors. Now she always wants to take the little tractor. I'm very impressed how well it is made and how well it has worked out. Great toy!

I have a 4 year old son and 2 1/2 year old daughter and they spend HOURS riding this tractor. Even on grass, it goes pretty fast and the battery lasts longer than the other 3 ride-ons we own. We are very satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it above and beyond any other ride-on on the market. We've had it a year now and it's still good as new!

My 3 year old son absolutely loves this tractor/trailer. It is just his size! I am very disappointed in the company though. I had to call them, and plan on waiting FOREVER to get through to their customer service department. I probably won't buy Peg Perego products again for that reason. The tractor's quality is excellent, except for accessibility to the battery. It is very inconvenient to get to the battery for recharging.

THIS TOY WAS BOUGHT FOR MY SON FOR HIS 2ND BIRTHDAY.HE WAS ABSOLUTELY THRILLED WITH IT.THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS THAT THE BATTERY DOES NOT LAST VERY LONG,THAT IS COMPARED TO POWER WHEELS.AND THEN WITHIN A WEEK THE SHIFTER STOPPED GOING INTO REVERSE.I RETURNED IT TO THE STORE AND RECEIVED A NEW ONE AND THE SHIFTER ON THIS ONE STOPPED GOING INTO 1ST AND 2ND.TOOK FOREVER TO GET THRU TO THE COMPANY-I ENDED UP CALLING THE LONG DISTANCE NUMBER AND BEING TRANSFERRED-ITS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THROUGH-BUT WAS ON HOLD FOR 20 MINUTES.THEN IT TOOK ME THREE WEEKS TO GET A NEW SHIFTER KIT AND THIS ONE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS.NEEDLESS TO SAY I RETURNED IT AND WILL NOT BE BUYING THIS BRAND AGAIN.

GOT THE TRACTOR FOR MY 21 MONTH OLD, HE LOVES IT. NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT HE IS NOT ON IT. TOOK AN HOUR TO PUT TOGETHER. AFTER ONE MONTH THE REVERSE DOES NOT WORK, THE TRAILER PIN IS WORN SO THE TRAILER FALLS OFF AND THE TRAILER LATCH IN THE BACK DOESN'T STAY CLOSED. BOTHERS ME BECAUSE OF COST BUT DOESN'T BOTHER THE LITTLE ONE. TRACTION IS GOOD ON GRASS AND THE BATTERY LAST ALL DAY, THAT'S GETTING ON AND OFF. RECOMMENDED BECAUSE IT'S SO DARN CUTE TO SEE HIM ALONG SIDE HIS DAD WHILE DADDY CUTS THE GRASS WITH HIS JOHN DEERE.

The problem that I encountered was putting the vehicle together. It was missing parts and since it was a holiday the company was closed so I brought the item back to the store where I received a new one. This too was missing parts but only for the wagon so the tractor was together. for the holidays. I have been trying to get in touch with the company for two days. Phone lines are constantly busy and I am unable to access the web site. Hopefully, they will send the parts that are missing. At that price (199.00), all that hassle is uncalled for.
My son really enjoys the tractor as for durability that remains to b seen.

I am unable to go back and change the star rating but this tractor is quite durable. It is now April 2006 and the tractor is till running without any problems. It lasted through storms, snow and adults riding on it. Once it is together it is a great product.

The tractor is great. My nephew loves it. One big problem, delivery. I ordered this item on 08/08/04 and was promised delivery on 08/13/04. After 10 calls I finally recieved the tractor on 08/20/04. Do not order this item from Toys R Us (Amazom.com). They did nothing to get this item delivered as promised.

We bought this tractor for our tractor crazy son for Christmas when he was 1 1/2 years old, he quickly learned to drive! The battery life is wonderful, he rides it every single day, we have had it for 2 years and I just recently bought a new battery. The battery is also very easy to charge, just park it near an outlet in the garage. The traction is also great, my son takes it everywhere in our yard and is rarely stuck. I loved that we could control the speed until he got bigger. We also love the wagon because it encourages our son to help with the yardwork. We are looking forward to many more years of fun with this durable tractor that is JUST LIKE GRANDPA'S (great life like details!!!)
