Very nice kit, good size very accurate and reasonably priced. Best War of the Worlds (1953) war machine kit out there. Also set up for lighting and comes with a nice base.
Highly recommended

This is the one to buy....its got a great lighting kit made by Voodoofx for about $60.00 .....warning !!!! you will need some slight modifacation to install lighting kit..Do not paint before you get the instructions from the lighting kit as there are areas to be masked and painted before you can put it together..
The lighting kit really makes this baby just like the ones in the movie...It has a programmed circut board that makes the eyepiece pulse and then fire and the green lights dim and fade then the whole thing starts over in its program...its very real to the film version..Kudos to Randy at Voodoo fx for the amazing work that went into making the lighting kit . The only area that really is a little bit of work is the cobra neck to the eye.. It takes some sanding and removal of plastic pins and braces in the neck..take your time and you will be able to make this baby a real showpiece..this thing only needs glue is the cobra neck assembly and the eyepiece...all the rest is capped by the green lighting pieces to hold it together. So if you need to get back inside of the body where the board and lights are mounted it is super easy to get to..wonderful piece of work on this thing.. Pegasus rules for putting this out ...they also make a 1/8 size martian figure if you want the whole works....It also has a lighting kit by Voodoofx for the Martians eye and the smashed probe unit..but its a little more work to light as the martian is mostly solid vinyl and needs some drilling out to wire, but the torso is hollow where the board and battery go..its just the head and probe that are a little more work..enjoy...everyone should have a hobby!!!!

Cool wish it would have been more of a kit so it would have been work to put together.

I bought the unpainted model kit, which allowed me to have the fun of building it myself! There are few pieces, I count 14 for the ship and two for the display stand; they are very well made. I did not even need glue to put it all together. I used spray hobby paint--copper for the hull and brass for the cobra--and the effect is rather authentic.
I have been disappointed by all other models of this martian machine, mostly for their bad proportions or construction. Pegasus really got this one right. The graceful proportions of this model are spot-on. If you love the George Pal film of "The War of the Worlds" because you love the martian machines then you will really appreciate having this model around to admire.

I received my Martian War Maching in relatively good condition. The only problem is that the plastic packaging rubbed off some paint on the top surfaces of both wings. I would have given it a 5 star rating, but I reduced it to 4 stars.
Overall, this is an extremely good reproduction of the Martian War Machine that I saw in the 1953 movie called War of the Worlds. My only wish is that the top protruding neck had a flashing Red LED in it. Richard

I missed the information about this being a model kit. I thought it was already assembled and painted. My bad. If you are an aspiring artist you might be able to paint a realistic view of the earth from orbit on the stand. I don't have that sort of talent. It is not a difficult kit to build. My challenge has always been the painting. As long as I can get a good, smooth finish I will be happy when I get around to this project.
I am also going to use my dremel to carve a circular hole in the bottom to accommodate a small, flat LED light which will shine out of the bottom of the craft when I place it on an upside down flower vase (clear glass, wider at the bottom). This will sit on a piece of green felt with a plastic cow bathed in light. My own version of the Alien Abduction Lamp which you can find using a google search. Too much fun!

I got the model in the mail very fast and it was packaged really well. The model is an excellent kit. I can't wait to get another one to add to my collection from this vendor.
