5.0 out of 5 stars Another classic John Barry soundtrack., April 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Peggy Sue Got Married: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
"Peggy Sue Got Married" is a wonderfully nostalgic, deep and entrancing film. John Barry, as always, matches his original music perfectly with the mood of this film. There are four original compositions. The first is a beautiful theme entitled , "Peggy Sue's Homecoming". It is first heard when Peggy Sue (played by Kathleen Turner in by far her best role) returns to her childhood home after her "journey". The nostalgia transended through the theme is tremendous. "Charlie's Unplayed Guitar" is a beautifully, sad song fitting to the likable, yet hapless Charlie played well by Nicholas Cage in one of his earlier roles. "Did We Break Up?" is tune which brings back that unforgetable feeling of breaking up. Itis heard while Peggy Sue delivers the heartbreaking news to Charlie in an ominous scene in Peggy's basement. The final song is called "Charlie, I had the Strangest Experience". This hauntingly, beautiful song is heard twice in the film. First in a magically unforgetable nighttime scene on a hilltop with Peggy Sue and anahead-of-his-time beatnik played by Kevin O'Conner. The second time the song is heard is at the emotionally filled films end when Peggy Sue relizes who and what are important in her life upon her "return" to the present. The music so captures the nostalgic reminisence ofthis film, just as John Barry has done with other all-time soundtrack classics as "Somewhere in Time", "Out of Africa" and, of course, "Dances with Wolves". A must for John Barry fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars She wears a band of gold-I've been told, April 7, 2002

The movie is really cool. I actually grew up for 12 years in Santa Rosa when the movie was shot. The producers went all around town looking for fifties cars. Kathleen Turner was great looking and could have passed for a teenager without acne. Cage had a strange voice but put it on for the roll. The music was neat; sends you back to when music was awesome. My era [stinks] in music. Get This CD if you like oldies and want to see sexy Turner on the cover. Thumbs up; great movie and sounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack...but songs are missing!!!!!, October 27, 2001
This review is from: Peggy Sue Got Married: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I love this movie and the soundtrack. I think John Barry is very talented and the music on the soundtrack definitely places you in the different parts of the movie. I just can't believe that so many songs are missing from this soundtrack!!! Songs like Shimmy Shimmy Koko Pop (heard in the car), Just a Dream (at the party), Tequila (in the car), You Can't Sit Down (the diner), and many other oldies. What would also be great is if they would put the version of "I Wonder Why" that Nicolas Cage, Jim Carey and the others sing at the party. But I have to say that overall it's a great soundtrack. Maybe one day they will re-release this soundtrack with a couple of extras like they have with Top Gun and Forrest Gump.
