About the Author

Sir Addison Silber Howell, Esq. was born on March 4, 1986 in New York City to a gorgeous Pekinese mother, along with numerous brothers and sisters nearly as handsome as he is. After experiencing a brief and frightening imprisonment in a pet store, Addison adopted Bernadette and Larry Silber, who accompanied Addison on immensely pleasurable walks in parks and to playtimes with other dogs on the streets of New York. Addison’s first job was greeting and sending positive energy to clients in the exercise studio where Larry worked. As with all tasks, Addison succeeded beautifully.

After Larry and Bernadette divorced, Addison moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1992 with Larry. Since Addison already knew more than Larry’s chiropractic college could teach him, Addison stayed home and meditated on world problems while Larry took classes and studied. In February 1994 they met Penny, and by 1995 Addison had given his permission for Larry to marry her. They moved into Penny’s house, which had a yard and woods that enabled Addison to engage in intense nature studies.

In October 1996, the family moved to Issaquah, Washington, where Larry and Penny opened a Network Chiropractic clinic. Addison, a powerful natural healer, was disappointed that he was not invited to work there. During endless days left alone at home, Addison realized that he was no longer in the right situation to grow and to exercise his numerous talents. He thus regretfully began searching for a different living situation.

In June 1998 Addison adopted Trisha Fike and began working to improve her, her fiancé Dean Howell and their living situation. He encouraged them to marry and served as an usher at their wedding. Addison now spends most of his time meditating and in addition (he’s so busy!) works in Dean’s NeuroCranial Restructuring Clinic, facilitating physical and emotional healing in all the patients he greets. He’s also trained Trisha to the point that she’s now finally able to transcribe the many wise books he will present to humanity. (Dog knows, that sure took a long time! Poor Trisha is a human and thus rather dense—she has trouble picking up the thought pictures that Addison patiently beams at her.)

With the publication of his first book, The Pekinese Who Saved Civilization, and Trisha’s first book, The Princess and the Pekinese, Addison will be traveling throughout the U.S. with Trisha, his personal assistant (slave), for readings, book signings (Addison has his own paw print stamp), photos (Yes, you too can have your photo taken with Addison!) and entertaining children and adults with his very presence and life stories.

Addison lives with Trisha and Dean Howell on 3,000 wilderness acres in the Okanogan Highlands near Tonasket, Washington. The household presently includes caretakers Rich and Bernie Wells, Bailey the Peek-a-Poo, Speedy the Shepherd/Black Lab/Wolf, and German Shepherds Hanna and Alex. Addison’s favorite activities are eating and sleeping, but he also enjoys meditating, hiking, traveling, indulging Trisha in playing ball, and displaying his very long and impressive tongue. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I expected, October 17, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Pekinese Who Saved Civilization (Paperback)
I ADORE anything related to Pekingese, so I bought this book with great anticipation. Unfortunately, it turned out to be vastly different from what I had expected. The writing style is not very coherent, there's not really a "story" - if you want to read the story, the description of the book on Amazon tells it all. And that's the only interesting part.

The pictures are all in black and white, and the book itself was not bound very well.

Even if you love dog stories, this one would be very hard to "get into". Sorry, but I simply cannot recommend this book for anyone but the most die-hard dog-story lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Pekinese who Commands Respect, September 9, 2003
By
This review is from: The Pekinese Who Saved Civilization (Paperback)
Have you ever wondered what your dog might really be thinking about? Well Sir Addison Silber Howell, Esq. in "The Pekinese Who Saved Civilization," is about to tell you! Now he might not be able to write per se, but his words, thoughts and philosophy have been captured by his head servant/slave, Trisha Adelena Howell, so that all of us mere humans may benefit from his wise words.

You see, the self-knighted Sir Addison is a "thinking dog," and therefore naturally superior to mortals and other animal species alike. From poet and sculptor to literary genius, philosopher and psychoanalyst, Sir Addison shares his view of the world and tells us, precisely, why we should be eternally grateful not only to him, but also to GOD - the "Great Omniscient Dog (spirit).

Apparently, despite claims by many that we humans are on a path to self-destruction, Sir Addison very kindly takes us by the hand (paw?) and reveals the true history of the world. With his canine knowledge, we can solve many of our problems and thus save civilization.

Sir Addison is a proud Pekinese indeed, but his logic and quirky nature binds us to him instantly. Prepare to eat a great deal of humble pie as he points out our faults, but he points them out so eloquently that dog-lovers everywhere will do the very thing that Addison wishes - listen!

In a world where society in general seeks to find answers, to the point where we question the questions, Sir Addison's theories are simple and often motivating. Urging us to understanding, his theories are wonderfully displayed and modeled with accompanying black and white photographs that display his talents to the fullest.

Sir Addison commands reverence and respect at all times as we progress through the book, but seeing as he's sharing such knowledge and wisdom with us, we are compelled to bow at every stage, and as we nod our heads in agreement with the wise words displayed before us, we will lament loudly and ask ourselves, "Now why didn't I think of that?" Addison's words themselves will tell us why:

"...Because you are so cut off from your own bodily rhythms and true feelings. It's amazing to me how many of you humans are out of touch with your true needs, desires, goals and genital odors."

Hail Sir Addision...where have you been all of our lives? Funny, inspirational and delightful Sir! Dog-owners everywhere will applaud you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!, September 9, 2003
This review is from: The Pekinese Who Saved Civilization (Paperback)
THE PEKINESE WHO SAVED CIVILIZATION is described as telling the true history of the world, but from a canine's point of view. The dog's name is Addison. First, he opens the book with inspiring words of wisdom. His comments are surreal. He knows his stuff. Addison could successfully organize a support group. Addison could run for Mayor of his town! Heck, Addison could be our next President!

After wonderful words from such an adorable speaker, he then continues by taking on many roles as he saves civilization.

Addison the Impersonator gives a comical impersonation of Albert Einstein and the Sphinx, while Addison the Snowshoer shows style and sophistication while climbing a dangerous mountain. Addison has it all.

Get a copy of THE PEKINESE WHO SAVED CIVILIZATION, due out September 15, 2003, and join Addison on his global adventures. You will enjoy learning of how he would solve planetary dilemmas such as love troubles, drugs and alcohol addictions, food shortages, religion controversies, and much more.
