Editorial Reviews

Garner's lush descriptions of Hawaiian flora, fauna, and culture add engrossing detail to a lovely romance that blossoms slowly like a flower reaching for the sun. --Publishers Weekly, 6/6/11

Any book with a celibate wild rooster named The Colonel has got to be good, and this one is. The lush surroundings, attractive leading characters, and distinctive secondary cast add to the book's inventiveness. --RT Book Reviews, Donna M. Brown

An interesting mix of Hawaiian folklore, romance, and suspense makes Sharon K. Garner's newest romantic suspense novel, Pele's Tears, an appealing read. --thegenreview.com, Laura Hartman

From the Back Cover

When Noelani Beecham discovers she still has feelings for her childhood friend, first crush, and notorious good-timer Dante Kahoa, she wonders how they can operate and diversify Lehua, a jointly inherited Hawaiian flower farm. To get Lani back to Lehua, Dante has to talk her through her guilt over a tragedy that separated them as teenagers. As friendship catches fire a second time between these longtime friends, they discover that the legenday trio of egg-size gems they thought was a family myth really exists, and a mysterious note writer is willing to use violence as encouragement for them to find and hand over Pele's Tears. In between deciphering clues, convincing Dante to help her, and dodging arranged accidents, Lani would really like to see Dante's tattoo and catch her first green flash in a Hawaiian sunset. As they search for the gems, Dante and Lani learn that an easy friendship can forge itself into an enduring love.

Pele's Tears is a contemporary romantic suspense that takes place in a lush Hawaiian setting full of flowers, myth, and lore. It's populated by unique characters, including a nervous ornithologist, a former bad-boy boyfriend who's now a librarian, an amorous Australian surfer, a sullen motorcycle-riding flower harvester, and a celibate wild rooster named The Colonel.

"...combines the best of suspense and romance...Garner's skillful and knowledgeable look at the Hawaiian setting and culture enriches the story..." Martha Johnson/Marta Perry, Berkley and HQN

"A sexy hero, a take-charge heroine in a lush tropical setting!...Garner's knowledge of Hawaii sparkles in this terrific romantic suspense." Susan Meier, HQN Romances

"...Garner's latest is ideal relaxing reading." Nancy Martin, Signet & Minotaur

More About the Author

Who am I? Well, I'm a PA girl who enjoys writing stories about love and danger set in exotic locations. And I love throwing the comebacks on paper that I sometimes miss in real life, although I manage to lob quite a few. Four of my books, Pele's Tears, Sanctuary, Lokelani Nights, and The Spaniard's Cross, are romantic suspense; River of Dreams is a romantic adventure. I'm a former library cataloguer and newspaper proofreader, and I keep my hand in with freelance copyediting and proofreading for other writers. I live with my welder/EMT husband of many years, a man who no longer flinches when asked such questions as "How long does it take to bleed to death?" and "How can I disable a big piece of equipment?" In my free time, I read mysteries and regularly prance around the living room doing walk aerobics. I'm also a nighttime TV junkie; it's all about the stories! I've recently jumped into the Kindle waters by publishing Sanctuary and some individual short stories. My other titles were made available on Kindle by Hard Shell Word Factory/Mundania Press. Pele's Tears, the latest, is set on a Hawaiian flower farm. It came out in hardback and hardback large print from Five Star/Cengage. I'm blessed with the cover for it, with its eye-catching blood red hibiscus. I believe that when you pick up one of my books to read we have a covenant, you and I. You're spending some of your life's hours reading someting I wrote. It humbles me. I hope I uphold my part of the bargain.

Format: Hardcover
Dante Kohoa and Noelani Beecham inherited his grandmother's flower farm on Kauai. Thus he travels from Lehua, Kauai to Maine praying his childhood friend is ready to come home after years away. She fled Hawaii as she blames herself for the death of Dante's twin Dominic in a tragic accident.

However, as they return back to the islands, someone targets them apparently because the culprit believes the pair has the Pele's Tears; jewels that both assume were myths told by her godmother and his grandmother. As the pair begins to fall in love as adults, they search for the jewels as her godmother's journal leaves clues that has both changing their minds about the gems. They hope their quest ends the threats to lives.

Pele's Tears is an engaging Hawaiian second chance at love romantic suspense in which his late brother comes between the lead couple as it has since Dom died. Although the final confrontation leaves readers wondering about the prime villain needing professional help with a no harm no foul (no culpa) attitude, fans will enjoy the hunting and stalking of Pele's Tears.

I have long awaited another book by Sharon Garner. I have all of her previous works and had been hoping for years that she would write another one. Pele's Tears is a very good novel. There is enough description and suspense to satisfy every one. I highly recommend this book.
