Not so hot!,

This review is from: Pelican 1080 Hardback Computer Case with Foam (Black) (Personal Computers)
I thought this would be a good way to keep my netbook dry as it is supposed to be moisture tight. This case does not seal well at all. The side of the mating surface where the top meets the bottom is warped and there is a small gap. I tried to resolve the problem and get another as one reviewer had done but the vendor and the manufacturer were so apathetic that I just decided to return it. DO NOT BUY if you want a weather and dust tight case.

Not quite dustproof, but appears to be crushproof,

This case is advertised as watertight and dustproof. However, the first one I purchased had to be returned because it was not watertight. The lid did not close tightly enough to create a seal, allowing water to enter the case. I even tried to adjust the rubber seal, and that did not resolve the problem. I received a replacement, which is slightly better. Like the first case, it does not form a tight seal all the way around when closed. It passed a water test when I submerged it in water that was only an inch deeper than is the case, but I wouldn't count on it keeping water out at the depth or time period that is advertised on the box (watertight to a depth of 3.3 feet for 30 minutes). I also question whether it will keep out dust because of the failed seal. When the box is closed, I can slip a piece of paper into it, without having to open it. Now, whether or not dust will do the same, I can't say. I am keeping this case only because I need a hard case primarily to protect my netbook from getting crushed.
I initially ordered a 1090, but I had to return that because it arrived missing the foam insert. I believe it had a better seal than does the 1080. Plus, it was larger. I can fit only my Acer Aspire One netbook in the 1080. There is no room for cords, etc., unless you remove the foam, but then you risk damage to your netbook. That is not a problem for me because I expected as much when I looked at the dimensions prior to purchase. The 1080 is sized perfectly to fit into a soft backpack, or other carrier, without taking up too much space. The manufacturer offered to look at my case, as per their warranty, but I opted to just make an exchange through [...].
