You can tell its a Pelican case by the distinctive "twin-ribbed" top surface. Stainless steel pins are used for hinges and handles. The new Double-Throw latches are much easier to open.

Pelican is known for their rugged and durable design, they were my first choice when I needed to travel with 2 firearms. This case was actually much bigger than I expected. I had plenty of room for 2 pistols, 50 rounds of ammo and 6 magazines. Its rugged construction did great on 3 flights, and I will continue to use this case for other purposes. If you purchased different foam, you could really configure it to carry an assortment of equipment.

My only gripe, the holes for the locks were a bit small. Any standard smaller padlock will fit, I had bought some "extra tough" locks that had a larger diameter hoop and they didn't fit, but standard small master locks did.

I purchased this case to replace my smaller Pelican case hoping this will accomadate all 6 of my pistols. No complaints here, plenty of room for 1 camera or 6 pistols :-).

I'm keeping some important documents in this one. I bought a handful of the silica gel packs for this case, and then put all my papers in it. I know that even during a basement flood or tornado, this thing will probably survive. I have a bunch of Pelican cases. I tested some of the smaller ones in my bathtub, and was pleasantly surprised. Not even a drop of water makes it past the O-ring seal. If you really want to protect something, get a Pelican case. They are made in USA and I sincerely hope they never change that, or I will likely begin buying something else. I'll pay extra for the unmatched quality of these cases. They can't be beat.

We needed a case that would make one of our cameras more portable. In order to do this, we wanted the case to be as small as it could be to fit the minimal items n it and this one works fabulously.

These are the items we have in the case:
Canon 5D mark ii camera
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 IS L lens
Battery grip
Battery charger and spare battery
Small case for spare memory cards

I use it to store two pistols with several spare magazines. I was hesitant about the pick n pluck foam but it turned out to be fine. Pelican cases are consistently high quality and I will probably be picking up another one.

This case was purchased to house some VHF/UHF communication equipment while protecting it from the elements. If needed to be tough enough to withstand being transported by vehicle, airline, in a ruck, and on an ATV.It also houses other electronic equipment that is sensitive to the elements so it needed to be able to protect the contents from rain and dust as well. Well made, heavy duty, and worth the investment.

I have a lot of Pelican cases for a variety of purposes. The acquisition of the 1450s (I bought two of them) yet again confirms Pelican's stellar quality. The 1450 is built like a tank. It's stronger than needed for most conceivable uses - which is exactly why Pelican fans keep buying them - locks up tight and stays tight, is built to take HEAVY abuse while protecting its contents, and even has a comfortable handle. All at a reasonable price. Now how are you going to argue with that.

By the way, "HEAVY" abuse doesn't mean dropping the thing. It means surviving 10 story drops, freeway falls including car impacts, bear assaults, etc. Yes, the latches are a little tight. I like them that way - it's part of the protection.

While I have bought a Pelican case or two that was over or under-sized for my intended purpose, I have never returned one yet. All found a use, and I subsequently, happily bought one the right size. There are very, very few products I've purchased where I can say *that*!
