Pelican has a reputation for solid protection, and I was not disappointed. I haven't run over it with a truck yet, but I love the way my camera equipment fits snugly in the heavy foam. I've also added the in- top organizer.

I ordered this expecting to the get the 1600 in black, WITH foam. I received a case without foam. When I called Adorama they said it was a mistake in the advertisement and that they didn't carry a 1600 case with foam, only without foam. Money was spent on a rush order at a different company so I could have the correct case by the time it was needed.

The item shown (Pelican 1600) is NOT the correct photo!... This item states "comes W/Foam" and it DOES NOT. Adorama was not willing to send the foam without me re-packing, and returning what was shipped originally (incomplete) and waiting 6-14 days for the product to arrive as described.
Buyer Beware!!!...
A Pelican case is the finest case on the market...but the photo, price, and listing is INCORRECT on Amazon, and Adorama basically said "it's your problem".

Shame on you Amazon... as if we need more stress in our lives. What an inconvenience!

This case is great. Very sturdy and is huge! This holds almost all of my boyfriend's paintball gear. The only thing that isn't in there is his mask. It holds 2 markers, 3 air tanks, and a couple other pieces. We did use the 2 layers of foam as 2 different levels. I would recommend these cases to anyone that is looking to store things in a strong case. It isn't just for camera gear or paintball stuff. I am thinking about getting another one for our remote control helicopters since they are that great. Mess up the foam? No problem they sell replacement foam. Which is great if you ever upgrade your gear that you are storing. You don't have to go out and buy a whole new case.

**This case is so strong, we used it for another purpose. The seat back in our car broke (it laid flat down) and we needed something to hold up the seat while we bought a new car. This worked great! It took the beating and showed no wear!

The Pelican cases are all great! If you have any equipment you want to be protected while traveling (or in general), this is the way to go! This 1600 case is much larger than I expected even after looking at the dimensions... Either way, I'm very happy with it. It is a great case and I will be buying more for other gear shortly!

The Pelican cases are fantastic. Whatever you may need to store in one of theses cases, the cases will serve you well. They are sturdier than anything else you'll find on the market, and the plucking foam makes organizing the boxes very easy.

I bought this case for my telescope accessories which include a spotter scope, eyepieces (one which is very large, around 6 pounds by itself), laser collimator and several other accessories. All you have to do is get an estimated size of your gear to decide which case will be adequate. Pelican stands behind their products and will do whatever it takes to keep you happy. The instructions/guide that came with the box were very short but cleverly precise.

I give the product five stars for superior quality, dependable customer support and tons of versatility.

Great case. The latches are pretty tight, which can be kind of annoying, but it is watertight after all.

I purchased this case for a trip to Europe and Russia. Needless to say this case is rock solid. I checked this case with professional photo equipment through 13 countries for a summer photo shoot. My cameras and accessories showed up to each location just as I packed them, and safe :) This small investment was worth knowing that my equipment was safe. Also, the foam packaging was very easy to trim/customize to fit my equipment. Would recommend to those traveling with delicate equipment.

I bought this case for some musical equipment I planned on carrying around. I underestimated the size of this thing. IT'S HUGE!!! I won't particularly be carrying this around much. The amount and size of the equipment I planned to store in here is not really that big in size, but combined would not all fit in the Pelican 1500 width and length wise. Basically I needed a case with the width and length of this case, but not so much depth. That is what makes this thing a goliath. But I am not going to base this review of my tailored needs.

This case is super solid, super sturdy, and tight. The clamps are a little tough to open, but that is definitely not a con for a case when you're storing expensive equipment such as microphones, which I am.

Also, the perforated foam is great for making this case 'yours', but it can be a little messy and hard to plan out. It took me about three hours to get mine all cut out to shape for my microphones and preamps. I don't think I would ever want to do that again.

It's a shame the depth is being wasted in my case. I may possible use the bottom for another set of microphones in the future, but right now it is serving its purpose, and taking up a lot of space doing it. lol

I recommend this case for the protection of your electronics, but if you plan on traveling a lot and don't need as much space, definitely go for the smaller ones.

I purchased this case to store an IC-7600 radio. I wanted a high quality case for transportation since this is an expensive and somewhat delicate piece of equipment. I found that this case worked very well for my needs. Make sure you size your pelican case appropriately, take a ruler and measure all your objects and make sure sufficient space is left on all sides.

I found the pick and pluck foam to be fairly easy to configure to store my radio, a small USB keyboard and microphone, leaving 1-2 inches between all objects. I took my time and carefully configured the radio on the foam and drew an outline so I knew exactly which pieces to remove, which prevented any mistakes.

The case seems very sturdy and well constructed, I haven't subjected it to any abuses, but I can rely on the reputation these cases have for providing sturdy, waterproof protection. I would purchase another case like this in the future.
