It will be hard for anything to get hurt you put in this case, Hard to beat up a Pelican case. This 1720 ships with 1 foam on the lid and 2 foams on lower part. it has wheels but seems pointless...just pick it up. I was able to fit one ar15 and 1 870 shotgun.

Ok so you spent a lot on your weapons and don't like the cheap case that they came in?? You need to get one of these!!! I was able to put my AR, .45 & my Glock 19 all in the same case with a couple of clips for each! The case is beyond rugged, it feels indestructible. Which is good if you plan to travel. Fortunately there are wheels on one side because you will need them. Depending on what you plan to put in it you will need the wheels oh and don't even pretend to think that you can't go over the 50 lbs. weight limit most airlines have because you can. My real advice to everyone who is considering buying this is to think how perfect must this be? Seriously you are about to spend ~200 bucks for the case and then what? You have to cut the foam to fit right? Sounds simple and there are plenty of videos and instructions on how to cut the foam, BUT, you may not be happy with the result! It is not as easy as it sounds; use chalk to lay out, use an electric knife to cut and a sharp knife for the corners. Ever done this before? You just might find yourself wishing you never touched the foam or maybe looking for a professionally molded/cut foam. You need to think about this before you buy the case because replacement foam is ~$65-70 and the professional cut foam is ~$150. I got to tell you when I cut it the first time I did my best and it was `functional' not pretty by any means... Two days later I was looking at replacement foam or a professional to make it right. I figured I'd go through a couple of sets of foam to get it right if I were doing it myself so I went with a professional. I found a website that I'm going to shamelessly plug because they did a great job, mycasebuilder. You can design your own case with a simple tool. They will also take a photo of your item and create a perfectly scaled cut out from it. They did it for me and it turned out AMAZING!! Look them up although admittedly I'm sure they are not the only ones out there who can do this. ~$350 total for my case + foam but it is exactly what I was looking for!!! So MY advice is get this case but be ready to pay more to do it right. There is the `pick and pluck' option (look it up) that might be the right compromise for you but for me it wasn't what I was looking for. In the end I am very happy with the end result and the cost was worth it!!

I can't be more satisfied with this pelican 1720 case. After shopping around for a gun case at my local large chain sporting goods store I discovered that I could purchase a pelican for just $50 more (including shipping) than the only one I would have been interested in at the store. And, I ordered a size that fits my requirements better since the store only had the ones for full size rifles. You also have to take into account that I live in Hawaii, so I couldn't order it from amazon since they don't ship here, but instead purchased it from another company listed. Quality of the pelican is outstanding. You do have to cut the foam to your requirements, but it wasn't hard, and I would think that it creates a tighter fit than the type where you pluck out the squares. Overall, I am very pleased. This is the best you can get for the money. I'm just a little jealous of you guys who can order it from amazon and get the free supersaver shipping. That's the ultimate deal.

Pelican.

I shouldn't have to say anymore except that Amazon wants a minimum 20-word review.

Use an electric carving knife on the foam and cut from the bottom side so when you flip it to the right side up and put it in the case, your cutting skills look good.

The case is very high quality and I would recommend it to a friend. There are three layers of foam; Top (In the case lid), Middle (The layer you cut), and the bottom( Base layer). I used an electric carving knife when I cut my foam and in my opinion this is much better than trying to use a razor. Just remember when you trace your parts onto the foam you lay them out like a mirror image so you can flip the foam over after you finish cutting and hide your trace lines. You can shop online and upgrade the foam in this case. I plan to buy laser cut high density foam (Think pool noodle) now that I have all my dimensions figured out. Don't forget to buy a Desiccant pack.

This case is by far the best out there! I have a Scar 16s and a FNX 45 in this 1720 case and it fits perfect! Love it!

I bought a 1720 case and I am very impressed with its sturdiness. The foam is an issue, but I saw on youtube how to use an Proxxon Thermocut Hot Wire Cutter, which was not to expensive, and cuts foam rubber precisely and quickly. Since I have a few guns I will use this cutter more than one time. In time, cutting this foam for others could be a lucrative sideline.

This item is one sturdy product. After recieving it I fitted the items I wanted in case by using a long blade box knife. Taking your time cutting helps but when done it will look nice. The foam is great and will do the job. I would recomend this to any one. JEFF

I feel like most people who are looking at pelicans already pretty much know what they want and are looking for. With that being said, this case is extremely sturdy and well built. I use mine for transporting firearms on airplanes. It's gotten pretty abused by baggage handlers and I always know the contents are safe regardless. I own just about every size and shape pelican case and oddly enough this case is way easier to latch than the rest.

This Pelican case is exactly what I needed. Though this item says "foam for camera", it has a picture of a rifle inside. Which is exactly what my case has. My Ar-15 M4 fits like a glove. The case is extremely sturdy. But you all know that if you're looking up "Pelican cases"... They're hands down, the best.
