5.0 out of 5 stars Nifty light for writing at night
As a disaster responder for Red Cross and CERT, I need to be able to fill out forms and write down information outside at night. I've tried holding various flashlights, which is clumsy, and used clip-on booklights which were, ultimately, too dim or didn't cast a broad enough zone of light. This little Pelican light is bright and flexible - clamp it on a clipboard, hat...

This pelican model is by far the most versatile design I have ever used, unfortunatley we have had a 100% failure rate due to the poor internal wiring design. The unit works fine for awhile, then intermittently and finally giving up the ghost. This is not an acceptable product for aviation flight line use.

Pelican does back up the product, but that doesn't really help solve the issues with the design, when you need light you need light.

5.0 out of 5 stars I would have paid more..., February 23, 2009

Wonderful product. I bought two and clipped them onto the front of my backpack by the sternum strap. I essentially have adjustable headlights. I highly recommend doing this. BTW, I am using them on the Deuter Superbike, another product that I would have happily spent twice the money on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clip mini light serves it's purpose., December 18, 2008

I'm a letter carrier for the USPS and we've been working later hours, many of which are in the dark. This light has been great for us because we need both hands to do our jobs and holding a flashlight is too cumbersome and time consuming. The USPS should just supply these to the workforce, it would save them a fortune.

I recommend the 2220 VB3 Clip On LED Mini Light

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little light, December 17, 2008

I bought this light a few years ago and it has served me great. I've taken it camping, traveled overseas, and used it as a reading lamp at night, so not disturb my wife. It is light weight and very compact. The light it puts out is very good considering it's size. As a Registered Nurse, I use it at night when I have to see a patient so I don't have to turn on the light. Great light for any situation.

AMERICAN made! This is a fantastic light. Clip it to your hat, shirt, jacket lapel or anywhere a 1/4 inch clip will grab. Mine goes on emergency calls to WORK. Purchased a second one for a friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Light and sturdy, June 27, 2008

I bought 4 (2 for me, 2 for my wife) of these to clip on our backpacks for hiking in the dark. I used these in conjunction with a headlamp to light the ground ahead even when you turn your head to see if that sound you heard was a bear! They did the job. They are small and sturdy, and they look pretty cool. Also useful to navigate around a dark tent or room.

I was looking for an inexpensive utility light and came across these clamp-on lights from Pelican. Pelican makes some neat products; reasonably priced. The light clamps to any appropriately sized surface (cap visors, shirt pockets, box lids, etc.)and serves as an area light by virtue of two bright LED's. I bought two to carry in my day-pack and the ditch bag for my UTV. They are very versatile and resemble a two LED pocket light that clamped to a 9 volt battery, which was offered for sale several years ago. I always wanted one of those, but find this Pelican light to be far superior. Other reviewers have complained of breakage; I have not experienced what others have reported but have found the hinge point for the LED head can be extremely stiff and tight. For the price, I recommend these these clamp-on LED lights as they have many uses in many activities. If Pelican decided to make these lights in a ruggedized version, I'd surely buy one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this product.., July 31, 2011

This is a great little light that I use at work mostly. It provides enough light to help me get the job done,(especially when you consider it uses 2 watch batteries). The best part is that it will clip to stuff to allow you to put some light right where you need it while both your hands are free.. I've clipped it to the bill of my hat, my shirt pocket and to places on the equipment I'm trying to fix.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I think they should've made it just a tad sturdier. Make the off switch and the wires to the l.e.d.'s heftier and you'd have a really reliable light that lasts a while. I went through my first one in a year, but I use it alot. If you don't open and close it so much it should last longer..

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Design Poor Workmanship, August 20, 2010

I love these lights and really wish I could give them 5 stars but Pelican's poor workmanship on the product almost ruins a fantastic product. While the style looks goofy, it is very functional and the amount of light which they put out is amazing. Thus the functionality and light output makes up for the deficiency in workmanship and thus the 4 star rating.

The problem with the workmanship lies with the on off clicker under the head which gets stuck. I own a bunch of these lights because they are so functional but the on off switch on them all gets stuck from time to time so that when you go to use it there is no light. A quick press on the clicker with a pen or other such object fixes the problem.

Again if the design and light were not so good I would qualify them as being junk but the design is really handy and they give off a lot of light. So while I wish I could find a more reliable product I cannot and thus make do. They are not perfect but better than anything else this size I have run across.
