I own two different sizes of Pelican micro-cases. They are well made and seemingly indestructible. When you need a case that will last while taking a beating out in the field I have found no better case than Pelican.

This was a perfect hard case for my compact digital camera. The case is virtually crush proof. I had some open cell foam that I cut to make a perfect cradle for my camera. I haven't tested the water resistance, though it seems that it would protect fine from snow and rain. I wouldn't recommend it for full immersion in water though. The case adds bulk but will still fit in most coat pockets.
