A rubber strap for a hardhat or helmet and an adjustable cloth strap for bare head are both included. About Pelican Products
Dave Parker, president of Pelican Products, has been an avid scuba diver since age 11. During his early diving years, he repeatedly discovered that something he needed to make a dive complete was simply not available. It dawned on him that if he needed that piece of gear other divers did, too. In 1976, he began the company with his wife and co-founder Arline, an airline stewardess, while he continued his advertising and industrial-design business. From that inception as a small garage operation, Pelican has blossomed into an international marketing and manufacturing firm.

While honestly I rarely use it outside it has seen a lot of use indoors in tight spaces, working in computer cases, etc.

This is a fantastic light for anyone. This headlamp gives me the choice of intense light for detailed work or less light and a very high burn time(80 hours!) for hiking a trail or sitting around the fire.
I use mine mostly for fishing. The intense light from the Xenon bulb is great for tying nots or rigging the rod in the dark. The three led's work best when I am launching and loading the boat.
I also like the fact that this light has a Unconditional lifetime guarantee!

Perfect, Bright, Light Weight, Waterproof. An excellent all round camping light that is light enough to take on the longest night walks. Pelican products are proven this light is just another perfect example.

I have had this headlamp for over 4 years now. While honestly I rarely use it outside it has seen a lot of use indoors in tight spaces, working in computer cases, etc. I am very familiar with Pelican equipment cases so I knew anything carrying their name was well worth the extra cost.

I would not buy this one again.

I would rate this higher, except if falls short in every way to the Petzl Tikka XL. Its only virtue over the Tikka is that it has an incandescent bulb for outdoor cooking. This allows you to judge the done-ness of the meat or fish. And it is cheaper, which makes me give it three stars instead of two.

It is heavy and is mounted too far out from your head. It does not hold an angle setting and bobs around as you move. The hinge is loose and the detents are useless. They are only noisemakers. It really needs a top strap and better mounting hinge. The hinge is too delicate to tighten up to hold an angle. I am going to have to put a top strap on it to make it usable. The design seems to be way behind the other companies. If I keep it, I will have to make new hinge ears so I can have an angle that will hold. That bobbing around can drive you crazy at night on a trail. Vertigo is not good on some trails.

The Petzl design puts everything closer in to the forehead, so it is much steadier, and catches less brush, too. The Petzl detents actually have a function, and are closely spaced and have no slop.

The Pelican LED light is really blue, compared to the Petzl. The beam is pretty narrow, too. The Petzl beam is either narrow or wide, depending on the Fresnel lens you slide in or out of position. I find that feature handy for reading and other close up activities. That feature, along with three-plus brightness selections, makes the Petzl less likely to destroy my night vision.

It also has the ability to lose the cap and battery capsule in the dark. I will have to put a lanyard on the cap, at least.

So, if you need a cheap headlamp with both LED and incandescent lamps, buy this one. Otherwise, watch for a sale on the Tikka XL.

This is just a spare or a loaner.

This is a great little lite for wearing around a hardhat in a dark environment. the two types of lights come in very hand and it is an excellent pelican quality.

You'll never be disappointed with any product from Pelican. Quality and functionality are their trademarks. Definitely recommend for nighttime grilling/smoking (which is what I use it for a lot).
