This appears to be a fairly sturdy sled, with a good, thick pull rope, and it certainly is pretty for the price. The product description claims, however, that it includes some sort of safety harness, which is simply not the case. There is none evident in the picture, so I suppose I should have been suspicious. In any case, there was no such thing in the box, despite the fact that the warning label on the sled admonishes me to "ensure that the safety harness is properly secured to the child and affixed correctly." The label also says that the product is for children 1-4, and I'm not sure how a 1- or 2-year-old could be expected to ride in this in the absence of a harness. Certainly the safety belt was one reason I chose this product over others, and I'm disappointed at the false advertising.

I was reluctant to buy this after reading a host of mixed reviews. My son is 21 months old and can be rough on toys so durability and safety was a major concern of mine. Like many of the reviews I agree that the sled is not packaged very well. It is placed in a large box with a minimal amount of packing paper. The likelihood of it being damaged during shipping seems high however; we lucked out and it arrived undamaged.

The sled is constructed with a mix of wood and composite, all of which is held together with heavy staples. The staples concern me and time will tell of the durability. So far minor use of pulling my little guy around it will hold up but I can see older kids, 5+, destroying it with rough down hill use.

The sled has no safety belt or strap to hold the rider in, I am in the process of making one to secure my little guy in the sled.

Overall, the sled is a little high priced for what you get but compared to all the other products I think it is the best choice.

We bought this for our almost 2-yr old son and he loved it!! He will enjoy many fun winter sleigh rides to come!!! It's the perfect size for him now and for a couple more years. It gives something to hold on to as well as the child being able to sit without falling off/out.

I got this for my 18-month-old grandson. He had lots of fun being pulled in the snow by mom and dad! And we all had fun laughing about his delight! I had no problems with packaging. It arrived on the correct day (I did two-day shipping so it would get there while I was visiting) and in perfect condition. Maybe the box got changed since the other review. It was shipped to western Massachusetts.

This is the third Pelican Baby Sleigh we have purchased. One for each of our grandchildren and their families. Once again, it has proven to be a treasured gift. The toddlers enjoy the comfortable and safe ride and the parents enjoy getting their little ones out into the fresh winter air and snow. Once we were at a Colorado ski resort pulling our two year old granddaughter along the base of the runs. If I would have had multiple sleds to sell on the spot, I could of! I was happy to highly recommend this sled to all who asked about it!

We bought this item for out granddaughter. Found staples not totally seated in the wood, the wood was not finished in lacquer to protect it, and there was no safety belt as advertised. Returned item for a refund.

It's very cute! Haven't used it yet, I suspect since it's sitting low you won't be able to go through deep snow...

I bought this adorable wooden sleigh for my toddler grandson as a Christmas present and had it displayed under the tree with a large red bow until Christmas morning. He lives in Connecticut and has plenty of opportunities to use this winter already. It's perfect for his age (16 months) and size and the rope is long enough for his parents to pull without having to bend down. It's sturdy (the rudders are very hard plastic) and the wooden design makes it look like the pricier models at upscale baby boutiques aimed at grandparents!

The Pelican 29" Baby Sleigh was damaged from shipping and was broken when it arrived. The box that the sleigh was in was not sturdy enough for the trip via UPS. I would strongly recommend that Amazon tell the sled manufacturer to ship the sled in a much stronger box. Amazon sent me a second sled to replace the first one. That too came damaged, and I did not even open the box. I gave it back to the UPS driver.
