4.0 out of 5 stars More pros than cons
Thus far, my husband and I have really enjoyed the nerf pack. First, we felt it would be much better for when we have children over to the house. It is still going to hurt to get hit by one of those controllers if that accidently happens, however, quite a bit less than the hard plastic models.
Someone mentioned that their play and scores have went down, especially...

3.0 out of 5 stars Trading accuracy for fun, January 21, 2008
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pelican Wii Nerf Sports Pack Nic (Video Game)
I am updating my earlier review. Have had this item for several weeks. I am going to return it to Walmart if I can. It makes the Wii process more cumbersome. Sometimes you need to remove the remote when selecting your game. Everyone's play has deteriorated with the tennis racquet. The baseball bat is a negative in game play, due to the need to remove the remote to pitch properly. You can pitch with the bat, but how realistic is that? However, the bat is fine to use for the training games. Children (and adults), will probably enjoy using it for the training games, but not for the actual games. The golf club is still a positive. For anyone enjoying a Wii golf game, the game may be worth buying for the club. But for me, $35 for a nerf club is just too expensive. I will leave my rating at 3 stars. The quality is decent, and it does have some positive features. Most Wii accessories appear overpriced. This is no more overpriced than other accessories. It just isn't a value purchase for me.
The paragraphs below are my original rating.

Retiree here. My wife likes this product. My take. My overall scores go down, though it is a little more fun. By item: 1. Baseball-Holding the bat is nice, but when playing the game, you must also pitch with the bat, or keep removing/then installing the wimote every half inning. Rate this a C. Golf. Golf is more enjoyable with this product. Rate this an A. Tennis. Tennis is enjoyable, but my scores went down. I guess with practice, they should go back up. Rate this a B-.

Only golf club. baseball bat, tennis raquet included (attachment for wimote). There is no steering wheel. Note that the picture does not include a steering wheel, though the description says it does. The product is made by Performance Design Produts, and the Nerf name is licensed by Hasbro. Apparently some look alike products. The quality on mine is okay.
Value: Pricey for what you get. It does work. I thought this would be good for my grandson playing Wii baseball. However, the need to pitch with the bat tempers the fun. Price paid: $34.95 at Walmart. Many in stock. Best Buy $36.95. Amazon does not sell these direct, only through partners. EBAY prices with shipping are ridiculous.

Someone mentioned that their play and scores have went down, especially for tennis. My advice..realize what you are buying! You are now working with a longer lever arm requiring more force from your upper arm and body muscles to generate the same movement you were doing before placing on the attachments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strongly Recommend For Wii Sports, July 16, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pelican Wii Nerf Sports Pack Nic (Video Game)
After first playing Wii sports, I very much enjoyed the game but often found it a bit awkward doing sporting motions (like swinging) with such a small controller. One day, my brother brought home this Nerf Sports Pack and it truly revitalized my interest in the Wii Sports games. Here are the games that this pack can be used for:

Tennis: Honestly, the tennis racket probably matters the least in terms of actual gameplay (as swinging the Wii-mote isn't much different), but it still gives a better feel for the game.

Baseball: Instead of feeling as if you are swinging all from the wrists, the foam bat (despite being quite light) is firm enough to simulate an actual swing. Try swinging a Little League bat versus a full-size bat and you will see what I mean.

Golf: Because the position and tilt of your hands are so important to your golf swing, this club extension gives you a "base" from which to simulate the real deal.

Overall, this Nerf set revitalized my interest in the Wii Sports game and I highly recommend it for anyone playing the game on a consistent basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adds Fun to the Game, March 8, 2008

This review is from: Pelican Wii Nerf Sports Pack Nic (Video Game)
I got this from wal-mart and it came with a blue carrying case as well, I'm not sure if it comes with the amazon version. That was just an added bonus. These add way more realism to your games and make it so much more fun. I am a tennis player and using this for the wii on Wii Sports makes it alot more like playing in real life. The baseball bat and golf club are also very fun. These are made of soft, foam like material that if it flies off its nearly impossible to break anything like the tv. It locks securely into place with the remote attachment and I haven't had any problems so far. One thing I do is when im playing tennis I just put my extra hand on the lower part of the actual raquet just to make double sure, and also becuase it feels natural just like your playing in real life. If you like Wii Sports this is definatly a good buy and I recommend it highly. I have had no problem with accuracy and my accuracy has actually gone way up and I find it much easier to hit the balls.

I bought this for a gift for Christmas and it was a big hit! The individual attachments enable the gamer to simulate the real thing. Also, the nerf products will never hurt anyone or anything - double ++!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Feels great, safe family fun, June 28, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

I bought two sets of these instead of buying the alternative...the cheap, white plastic used to make most of the Wii controllers. I don't even have kids. This just feels better, it's easier to hold, and it doesn't slip when your hand gets sweaty if you're into some serious competition!! :)

It would be nice if they all came with a little carrying bag, like the Wal-Mart version, even if just a little drawstring bag or something. We had various controllers all over the place until we dedicated a couple of mesh bags to them.

I have no complaints about these at all. I highly recommend them to anyone as a better alternative to the standard plastic controllers. Cheers!!

4.0 out of 5 stars We Wii, August 2, 2008
Wii Nerf Sports Pack - Black

The Nerf Sports Pack adds a little realism to the game. Its soft so when you hit the person next you they aren't seriously hurt. Its easy enough to switch attachments. The only drawback is the pointing capability doesn't work well due to the sensor on the Wiimote being blocked. However, once in the game, the wiimote works great in the attachment.

Why buy this one?
It's foamy, so not only does it give a good weight to your swing, it's soft, which makes it a little safer, especially if you are like me in a bit of a cramped space. Gives you a "base" from which to swing from, which if you have been playing without takes some getting used to. You feel less like you are swinging from your wrists.
Seems to be reasonable durability for the price.
Has some color choices, if you are into that.

As far as the sports packs go this is probably as nice or nicer than the hard plastic ones. First it is a little safer maybe since it is soft foam and it weighs more so it gives a better feel when swinging them. I found it to be a novelty though. I mainly got one because my friend told me the bigger grip was better for the golf games but after after playing with it a few times I doubt I will ever bother putting these on again. I feel like I can play with the remote with the skin that came with it just fine. Maybe little kids will appreciate them more. Mine are only one and two now so maybe I will get some use out of them in a couple of years if Wii II isn't out by then.

These items are fun to use but you need to have space to swing them around, especially the tennis racket and baseball bat. It takes a little time to install the Wii remote since you have to actually start the games before you can snap it into the handle.
