I have owned this FP for over 20 years. One of my very favorites. For an inexpensive pen it writes very smoothly. The window lets the writer see how much ink is left. The piston refill is simple to use and the pen cleans up easily. Very flexible nib and leaves an excellent line with any ink. Highly recommended for those first trying a fountain pen. It is truly a shame that few people use fp's any more. They are very elegant to use and using a piston means saving a lot versus throw away cartridges. One becomes very attached to their beauty and function.

I bought this pen about eight months ago for journaling and as part of an attempt to get myself to do more writing by hand. I'm a writer and student, and so I do a whole lot of writing every day, whether I'm taking notes in class or while interviewing someone for an article, or in writing fiction, poetry, puns, pornography, etc, etc.
I really love this pen. It got me to write cursive for the first time in years, because my standard printing feels like driving a Porsche at 25 MPH all of the time with this baby. It's also made journaling even more satisfying than it used to be; there really is something special and intimate about writing by hand and engaging more directly with that you're working on. The flow of ink is just right (I use Noodler's black, which is also fantastic). The pen is easy to clean and maintain, and the threaded nib makes removing it a breeze, which I do every two to three fills in order to soak the thing in water for a few hours, which I recommend doing (as long as you let it sit on a paper towel or something for a while to dry out after).
Filling the pen is easy and mess-free. The pen is light, and although I generally prefer instruments with a bit more heft, this thing made me love it regardless. The only gripe I have about my M200 is that its resin barrel scratches relatively easily, so be careful putting it in bags and pockets. That said, it's not a $500 pen (though it writes like one), but a more practical tool for actual use, so I don't worry too much about a little scuffing.
Another thing: Make sure to really take your time turning the piston slowly when you're filling the pen with ink; you'll get a lot more ink into the chamber that way.
If you're on the fence about buying one, do it. You'll be glad you did.

This is an excellent product. When I saw it in the box, it seemed a little short; but it fits perfectly in my hand, which is of average size. The pen itself is lighter than my Online pen (also a German make) but this is a refreshing difference. It almost feels as though my fingers are writing with this pen -- it moves so elegantly across the page. The point is extremely well honed, and is flexible enough to allow for great individuality in writing.

If I had purchased this pen first, I might not have wanted to buy a second one. I wouldn't have wanted it.

This is an excellent fountain pen.

Higher end than the Lamy, the Pelikan 200 offers one of the best values in near luxury class pens. Unlike lower end pens, the M200 uses only bottled ink and fills with an internal piston. This gives it much more ink capacity than cartridge pens. It also opens up a whole range of wonderful ink colors to choose from as well. Pelikan has outstanding quality control, so the pen will write smoothly and consistently right out of the box. Like Lamy, Pelikan nibs are easily interchanged. In fact, the 200 can take nibs from the higher up 400 series, should you fancy upgrading to a solid gold nib.

While the M200 is at the low end of the Pelikan pen line, it is still a very fine writing instrument. I own more expensive pens and so originally purchased this one as a daily pocket pen. However, it outwrites most of the so-called "finer" pens and so has become a true go-to for me.

I would describe it as an economy class pen with world class quality.

I have always been a big Pelikan fan. This is an affordable but well writing pen. I don't think you can do better at around $100. Moreover, it has the piston fill rather than the typical cartridge/converter system used by most pens in that price range. In fact I don't consider them real "fountain" pens. My only issue is the small size because I have small hands but they're afflicted with arthritis which means the larger sizes (600, 800, 1000) work much better for me. However,I've lost too many going through TSA, in taxis, etc. that I can't afford that luxury anymore.

The pelikan pen is all I hoped it would be - elegant, practical, fun to use - good value at the price.

Nice little pen. Writes very smooth and doesn't skip on a variety of papers (Using Noodlers American Eel at the moment).

Medium actually means medium, unlike some other pens that would lay down a ~ 0.3mm line and call themselves a medium.

Bit on the light side, but that's just a personal preference that I like my pens with some heft to them.
