The Pelouze 4040 Heavy-Duty Electronic Utility Scales [w/12 x 12-1/2 Platform & 400-lb. Capacity] is the best scale we ever owned, bar none.

We're in our thirties, and have used or owned a variety of gauges throughout our adult lives, such as kitchen scales, bathroom scales, and postage scales, but this one is truly the all-in-one champion.

In our study of this model, the Pelouze 4040:

(1) Authentically weighed packages for regular mailing [via USPS, UPS, FED-EX, etc];

(2) Displayed accurate body weight in comparison to other scales at several medical facilities

(3) Figured ounce-weighted ingredients for baking or cooking; and

(4) Proved truly correct when weighing luggage before traveling.

Bathroom, kitchen, or mailing scales, no matter how fancy, simply cannot compete with the 'all purpose' Pelouze 4040 Heavy-Duty Electronic Utility Scale.

Update: nearly 30 days:

This scale used to be the best we've ever owned; however, literally days post our review above, OUNCES were no longer measuring on the unit. For example, when weighing mail for postage, the scale refused to read anything under one pound. We tried moving it to different locations or surfaces and tried other electrical outlets; however, the unit continued to read "0.0" as the weight. When adding items OVER one pound, the scale seemed to work fine. Not sure if our scale malfunctioned, or if its the product that failed.

However, we decided to return this and try a different brand name with similar features. Note: we selected an "Ultraship" digital scale because over 100 reviewers recommended them.

My company uses these scales in three production facilities and find them to be durable, functional and accurate. In the 5 years we've had them in my facility the only time we've had to replace them has been due to user damage. Great product for the price!

Don't get me wrong...This is a great scale. With the airlines being so tight on weights these days, its a must have. I just don't know if it is worth the 170.00 bucks?
