I have been a faithful fan of the red/black Peltor/AO Safety H10A earmuffs for a good many years, but this Peltor Ultimate 10 is even better. The Ultimate 10 has the softest cushions (definitely the best and most comfortable ones I can find) and the NRR has been bumped up by 1 to 30 NRR. Theoretically the human ear should not be able to distinguish a NRR difference of less than 3, but somehow when I put it on I can feel that the Ultimate 10 with its NRR of 30 does a better job of attenuating noises than does the H10A with its NRR of 29, and they are so affordable to boot.

In addition to wearing these earmuffs while operating loud machinery at home, I wear earmuffs in my office to block out typing and talking noises from co-workers, because without good earmuffs on my head, I find it hard to concentrate when I read or write. I don't like the feel of earplugs. It is very effective in blocking out typing sounds and female co-worker voices, but not so the deeper male voices. I am still waiting for new technology to come up with an earmuff that can effectively block out low, deep bass/baritone voices in the 80 to 350 Hz range from male co-workers. The Peltor Ultimate 10 is the best of all earmuffs currently on the market but still manages to block out only about 20 decibels in the 150 Hz range. The Peltor Ultimate 10 is the best money can buy right now in both comfort and highest NRR.

I use this one at the range most often because of its high NRR rating and it sits comfortably on my ears. It's well padded and rarely leaks sound in like others. The only con is that its a bit large and sometimes interferes with a close stock weld.

I bought these for my wife while I use my treadmill. The treadmill produces a whine, which greatly disturbed my wife while she was on the computer or reading. This hearing protector blocks virtually all the noise from the treadmill. They are very comfortable and can be adjusted to fit extremely well! They are well padded and not excessively heavy! Strongly recommend!

I wanted to listen to music on the garden tractor but even the best noise canceling headphones can't compete with the racket. However, using earbuds with my iPod and these over the top, I can enjoy my tunes while riding. The tractor noise is greatly reduced so I can appreciate the music. The same arrangement will work in other situations where loud tools make listening to music an impossibility. I was pretty desperate, not just to while away the hours cutting the pasture, but after adding a tow-behind leaf vacuum with a separate engine, the noise level went off the charts. These do not eliminate all noise (wish they did) but are, by far, the best solution I've found to both hearing protection and music enjoyment.

As a hearing impaired adult, it's very important to me to protect what hearing I have left. Peltor Ultimate 10 Hearing Protector is the right product to wear when you use your lawn mower, weed wacker, roto tiller or leaf blower. If years ago I'd have worn these ear protectors, maybe I wouldn't have needed to wear hearing aids. Again, I highly recommend Peltor Ultimate 10 Hearing Protectors.

What a difference wearing this at the gun range, I hardly noticed other shooters. Very quiet, just what I wanted.

I don't use these at the shooting range, which appears to put me in the minority (if you believe the instructions), but in the wood / metal shop. They effectively dampen sounds from my jointer, table saw and angle grinder.

They work great for students who need peace and quiet and live with moronic neighbors or loud family. I'm studying MCATs and these helped me so much, I recommended them to all my premed friends!

We have 22 dogs in our neighborhood within a three house radius --- need I say more? These have helped me keep my sanity when I have work outside. I just tuck in my music Ipod earbuds and pop these on over the top and (hooray) it blocks out most of the barking. Wish I'd thought of this earlier.

Head set fits comfortably and snugly on head and over ears. Not too bulky when storing, but when on head can interfere with shouldered firearm. Otherwise great for pistol or any other use.
