5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Loud Environments
I am a service technician specializing in metal stamping equipment. I can talk to my support engineers while standing next to a punch press running 1,000 strokes per min. without any distraction. The background noise is almost indistinguishable from me when the boom microphone is near my mouth. Works great when paired to my Blackberry Curve. Could not pair to my Android...

I purchased these headphones so I could receive calls & listen to music while working around power equipment that requires ear protection. They paired easily to my Blackberry, but wouldn't pair to my IPad. I returned them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bluetooth Headset, At Last!, December 19, 2011

I bought these to attend phone meetings. I got tired of all of the junky Bluetooth headsets that drop calls, sound terrible to you, and sound terrible to your listeners.

These work very well. The directional microphone pointed at your mouth renders sound clearly without picking up any ambient or wind noise. I have used these while riding a bicycle at 15 mph, an impossible feat with the omnidirectional microphones near your ear on typical Bluetooth headsets. I have also used these early in the morning when birds are active, and the microphone does not pick up these very hard-to-mask sounds, which you often hear on early morning telephone meetings :).

The sound quality is very good, though not perfect. There is an occasional crackle of muted static, but never anywhere near the level of distraction. The sound dampening works well, too, and it is possible to talk on the phone at an active indoor gun range with this headset. The only thing that takes a bit of getting used to, is that at the default setting, your own voice sounds a little muted in the headset. This volume is adjustable, but if you turn it up enough to match what you would hear without the headset, it sounds a little tinny. I opted for slightly muted :).

Range is excellent, up to 50 feet, without all of the exasperating nodal dropouts every few feet that plague rechargeable earpiece-sized Bluetooth headsets. I have never had the signal drop from putting the phone in my pocket, or turning my body, as so often happens with Bluetooth devices.

Note, however, that this device conforms to the Bluetooth 1.3 standard, not the 2.X that is current. All of the cool stuff, like listening to your iPod, or controlling the music player, are part of Bluetooth 2.x profiles, so you will not be able to listen to music with this headset, they are strictly for telephone conversations. This device will not work with an iPad or iPod touch, though it will pair with them. I suspect that this is because there is no 1.3 Bluetooth Telephone Headset, or Telephone Handsfree profile on these devices, since they don't have cell radios. I do not have an iPhone, but I suspect that it _will_ work with an iPhone, though not for music playback, since it works fine with my LG Quantum 900 WP7 phone, but won't play music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous performance in noisy environment., December 17, 2011

This bluetooth headset is the ideal thing for cell phone connectivity and use in an environment that would otherwise be too loud to talk. It gives great hearing protection and allows near normal conversation right in the midst of roaring machinery. I've used it operating machinery, riding ATV etc. It paired up fine with my Android phone. I'm truly delighted to have found this product and highly recommend it if hearing protection and phone use are required at the same time.
