5.0 out of 5 stars Lobster Pies for the Gods!
These lobster treats are stunning. We have never seen anything like them. Wonderful aroma, texture and taste, and the little puff pastry lobster on top is like the flower on a wedding cake, can't decide whether to eat it first or last!
Saw these on Food Finds on the Food Network, ordered from Amazon, can't wait to order more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price
The lobster was rubbery, the crust had little flavor. The sauce was not very thick.

It did bake well - no burning if the directions are followed.

These are wonderful! Beautiful little ramekins with puffed pastry on top, and stuffed full with lots of very fresh lobster. The sauce tasted like a wonderful lobster bisque, subtle sherry flavor! They taste as fresh as if you were eating them in Maine at a seaside lobster restaurant! They can hold their own with any gourmet treat in any world class restaurant!

We saw these on Food Finds and just finished them last night. They were just outstanding. Unlike anything we have tried, very elegant. Lobster was tender, large chunks, sauce was a creamy/sherry sauce with the great puff pastry top. We served them as an appetizer at a large party, and everyone just raved. Will order again. Reminded us of a very special place in Maine..

Lots of Lobster for the size of portion. Almost as good as being in Maine. AND it is delivered in beautiful ceramic bowls.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the lobster pot pies, and some of my guests immediately asked for ordering information.

I expect to order the same item, as well as others from the company based on a wonderful first experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best you can get, December 6, 2011

I've been getting these for several years, and of course similar products from other vendors. The most important standard of comparison for me is the ones you can buy online, since my only other choice involves driving 60 miles and eating alone in a restaurant, not an exciting prospect. And these are not only the best of the bunch, but do very well by the standards of quite good restaurants from the days before widowerhood, if there is such a word. I've had something like these in Legal Sea Foods, and the chains like Seafood Peddler and Red Lobster -- the pastry is as good, and the meat strictly comparable. Of course, you do need to use a calibrated oven thermometer, since the ones in even expensive wall ovens, let alone most countertop ones, are often ten or more degrees off; and you need to follow the timing instructions closely, corrected for altitude (I'm over 1000 feet up, so slightly shorter cooking time). Otherwise, the juice boils over and is wasted, or the pastry won't set.

So, they're an indulgence, especially since CostCo no longer carries them; but the fact they're expensive per pound is irrelevant if there is no other way to get 'Lobster Wellington'--and for me, it's a plus that each helping is only 5 ounces since I don't need more than that, and don't want to be tempted.

4.0 out of 5 stars happy mother's day, June 3, 2011

These pot pies were delicious. They arrived in time for Mother's Day. The dry ice was gone, the pastry tops were kinda soft. But I put them in the freezer and brought two of them out a few days later. I didn't read that they need to be defrosted overnight, so I could have just put them in the fridge instead of the freezer. But they were very good and I will order these again for another special occasion.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but not exquisite, April 26, 2006

Living in the desert, one does not have the opportunity to eat good seafood very often. I have a theory: lobsters cannot fly. And so, even live ones don't taste like 'lobster' out here. I spotted these pot pies at Costco, for about $35 for a box of four cute pot pies with puff pastry lobster outlines on top. I figured, these lobsters did not have to fly before they were 'prepared', and maybe they would be good. No luck. I am not saying they are bad, but certainly not worth around $9 per 5.2 ounce serving. Much of it was claw meat, while preferred by some, it did not have the right flavor for me. There were a few bits of non-claw meat that came close... but still no cigar. Overall a nice try... the presentation and puffed pastry was good. However these will barely if not at all satify your craving for that sweet and special flavor of lobster. Save your money for the next time you can go to a real fresh seafood restaurant where the lobsters have no frequent flyer miles.
