From School Library Journal
Grade 1-3?When Daisy and her classmates draw names of children from another school out of a box, the second grader learns that her pen pal is Becky Benson. She writes to her new friend (the letters are shown as illustrations) describing herself in short, simple sentences. She even decorates her letter with pictures of daisies. In Becky's reply, Daisy is chagrined to learn that Becky is really Bucky, a boy. Booger, Daisy's thorn-in-the-side classmate, discovers her secret and teases her incessantly. Bucky's not too pleased that Daisy is a girl either. However, as they correspond, the two decide that they like each other. As it turns out, Booger's pen pal, Kirby, is a girl. Young children will delight in the turn of events as well as relate to the experiences of male/female relationships. The watercolor illustrations provide numerous context clues. A favorable addition to easy-reader collections.?Amelia Kalin, Valley Cottage Library, NY
