This is a good book to have if you are looking for something to give you a refresher or an overview of a topic you are already familiar with. The book is broken into sections such as materials, techniques and composition, along with a few others. Each section has many topics listed. For example the techniques section has 43 things listed such as blending, contour drawing, shading and many others. However, each topic only has one page (some have 2 or 3 but the majority only have 1) and this is a small book, you can easily tuck it into to a backpack or purse. If you are looking for a detailed explanation of a certian topic you won't find it in here. This is not a critisim of the book, there is a great deal of information packed into it, but I would not suggest it as a beginner's book as it won't teach you "how" to draw. However, if you have some experiance in drawing, this is a nice book to add to your collection as there are some interesting ideas in it.
