5.0 out of 5 stars You can get it free October 10, 2011
This is a great learning tool for basic economics. However anyone can Google and download a PDF of the entire book for free. No sense paying good money for it.

If you have no appreciation for the benefit that free markets have on society and you want to stay ignorant - I do not recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open your mind from this simple example December 2, 2012

With the simple example of the pencil you can open your mind to see from where all the costs are coming from even in a simple product such as a pencil. Great book!

It's actually an essay. An easy read explaining a deep economic problem. Delightful. And a classic used by economy professors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little essay about a pencil April 29, 2011

This is a nice essay, but not worth the 2.99 price. This would have been much better at a .89 or .99 price range. It is much deeper a topic than just the genealogy of a pencil. Does any one person know how to make a pencil? I do recommend reading this. Maybe you can find it elsewhere for less.
