Format: Spiral-bound
If you want to keep an active bunch of kids quiet for a bit, simple give them something to draw with, some paper, scrap or new, and set them in a quite corner. For some reason children love to draw and it really does not matter what the subject is. It is though, nice to give them some direction from time to time and this wonderful little book is just the ticket.
The author, Steve Harpster has given us a spiral bound book of 63 pages with the most interesting and creative way to draw sharks I have ever seen. While the drawings are simple and can be handled by children quite young, they are amazingly realistic. If you simply follow his simple step by step lines and then different shades, you come up with some very realistic looking sharks. We have Bonnethead Sharks, reef Sharks, Great White Sharks, Blunt nose Sharks, Cookie Cutter Sharks, Goblin Sharks, Hammer Head Sharks and many more; in fact, there are 27 different species and depictions in all. Each picture is an action picture and anatomically correct.

It is nice for children to draw. It is even nicer when they can see obvious positive results from what they have created. When they use these simple instructions, they actually can see the shark develop before them and end up with a picture that is unmistakably a shark.

The book is in the form of a spiral note book and is quite sturdy and built for hard use. The lines are dark enough and clear enough and simple enough to even trace; if worse comes to worse. The end results is a shark that is quite easy to color if the child so desires.

This is one of a long series of books on drawing for children by this author, some of which include how to draw Animals, Cars and Trucks, Horses, Dinosaurs, Dogs, Pirates, Flowers and many others. Each is well done and each are created in a very child friendly format. I do like these little books!
