From A Complete Beginner: Good News!,
By
This review is from: The Pendulum Kit (Paperback)
...And this kit is in fact oriented towards the beginner. I was very pleased with the presentation of background information and exercises and felt the material was very well balanced in terms of explaining the phenomenon of dowsing. I had tried dowsing a bit on my own without much consistent result. This book is like having an expert and patient teacher at hand to assist you. The natural inclination is to dive in over our heads and then get frustrated. The exercises are set up to build confidence and understanding. The small pendulum that comes with the book is very responsive and nicely balanced. As I was following along the instructions for the first exercises, the pendulum started moving in certain distinct patterns on its own. I then realized it was already responding to the exercise questions before I read them! When things like this happen you begin to understand that the subconscious mind is real and not just an abstract concept. It has certain qualities, like the propensity to interpret everything very literally. There is a story of a dowsing demonstration in which the device pointed into the audience instead of toward North as requested. It turns out it was pointing to a guy named North! You must be very accurate when framing your questions. But this is good because it involves your logical mind (which might just sabotage your efforts if it feels left out). I also found that after practicing with the pendulum, I was able to draw with increased facility. This is understandable considering the encouraged left/right brain communication that is a part of dowsing. It should then theoretically enhance your creativity in general. There is nothing like watching the pendulum pick out coins of like dates, or point in the direction of a lost object, to make your heart go pitter-pat. Dowsing is actually a form of active meditation and kinesiological muscle-testing, Therapeutic Touch and many other techniques are actually forms of dowsing. They all share the common bond of being worthwhile endeavors for gaining self-knowledge.

A Great Kit!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pendulum Kit (Paperback)
I like the pendulum that comes with this kit. This kit is a good start for anyone who wants to learn dowsing techniques. It's an easy read, and great for beginners, but don't stop here, read other books that can expand your knowledge like the "Pendulum Healing Handbook" and "Pendulum Power". The only things I don't like about this book is that I object at the fact that you should tell the pendulum what is "yes" and what is "no", because that involves your conscious, and I think in any work involving subtle energies, you should put your conscious aside, and let the Spirit from within guide your pendulum. i.e. you ask the pendumlum what it considers "yes" and "no". Also, this book is not the greatest at explaining what should happen if your pendulum does not move. I'm currently in the midst of reading, "Pendulum Healing Book", and that book gives better explanations. However, I still think this is a great book, and it comes with a durable pendulum. Enjoy!

GOOD INTRODUCTORY BOOK ON PENDULUMS BUT IS LIMITED,

This review is from: The Pendulum Kit (Paperback)
This pendulum kit is not a bad book on using pendulums. I suppose if you never heard about the topic and were looking for an introductory book about the subject I suppose it is okay. However, you can get the information in this book for free by doing research on the Internet. But if you don't want to spend the time researching the topic this book basically does it for you. In that respect is does save you time and also provides you with important information and methods on how to use it.
Since this is a kit the book comes with a brass pendulum. The pendulum is not bad considering how much you are paying for this kit. I suppose it is better than not having anything at all. However anyone that has done a lot of research like me, knows that not all pendulums are the same. Some are more sensitive than others and are even specially designed for specific purposes. For example, if you want a very sensitive pendulum purchase a wood, brass, gold, or silver Isis, Osiris, Karnak pendulum. The designs of these pendulum were found in ancient Egypt. If you want a pendulum for detecting diseases, use Radionic pendulums. The reason is somewhat complicated and if you want to know more about just google it. Quartz and Stone pendulums are also a good choice but they need to be constantly "cleansed" and "recharged" with new energy. The reason is that quartz and stone pendulums pick up energies especially from different users and they also discharge energy more than metal pendulums. This could produce inaccurate results. For some reason metal pendulums don't have this problem. Again I recommend the Isis, Osiris, Karnak, and Diamond pendulum which are usually made of brass. I personally ordered a pendulum called a Diamond pendulum. The pendulum is not made of diamonds but the shape of pendulum is designed to resemble the cut of a diamond and is made of brass. This diamond shape is supposed to incorporate something that is called sacred geometry. The sacred geometry design is supposed to absorb a lot of energy and is supposed to give you the most sensitivity compared to other pendulums. I don't know if all of this is true since I never used yet since I waiting for it to arrive. I will provide you with an update as soon as I use it. Finally, in terms of the charts in the book, I suppose they are useful but any decent book on this subject would also contain charts to help you get started. I wish there would have been a lot more charts included. One very important problem I have-well it is more of an annoyance-is the fact that the book is not spiral bound. The charts in this books would have been easier to use it were to lay flat on a table. Come on author why didn't you think about this? Many other books on the subject are spiral bound to make it more user friendly. I hope the author would do this in the future as well as include more charts. If you are a do-it-yourself type of person, you can even make your own charts like I did if the choices in the charts provided are not really relevant to your particular situation. For example, the charts I designed are very very specific in terms of time frame-that is, when specific events will occur in relation to time and date. Try it and save yourself money. To conclude, I recommend this kit for people that don't know anything about pendulums. For more advanced pendulum users look elsewhere. There are many other books on the topic of pendulums that have a lot of charts and more information than discussed in this kit. The enclosed pendulum it good "to get your feet wet", but make the nominal investment in buying a good sensitive pendulum. You will be using it a lot and will pay off in the long run. Good Luck!! UPDATE! I did recieve the Diamond Pendulum and I love it. I highly recommend it to everyone. Very sensitive and accurate. Great price also. Go to [...] to order it. NOTE: I don't work or have any vested interest in [...]. I am just a very happy customer and will definitely purchase from them again.

A fun kit,

This review is from: The Pendulum Kit (Paperback)
This is a very attractive kit including a glossy book and a lovely accompanying pendulum. The book describes how to use the pendulum, using an gattuningh technique before each question, and provides troubleshooting hints, such as what to do and what it means if the pendulum does not move or if it just swings up and down instead of in a clockwise or anti-clockwise circle. This is followed by some interesting ideas for using the pendulum using astrological charts and maps included in the book. This is a fun book to learn about using the pendulum and dowsing.

Lonegren writes an excellent beginners guide to dowsing/divining step by step instructions and a free pendulum [of excellent quality] will help anybody get a good start at dowsing, after I finished the book I lent it out to a friend of mine and she loved it! I still use the original pendulum included in the book because I haven't found a better one. Anyone interested in dowsing should consider buying this book.

dousing in a box,
By Monarch (San Fran Bay area, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Pendulum Kit (Paperback)
What an enjoyable way to discover dousing and the pendulum. The colorful, engaging book comes with a decent pendulum. The book is a nice read with exercises as you go-- very helpful. Within just one day (a few chapters of reading), I was able to use my pendulum to find a pencil that a friend had hidden for me. The weird/neat thing was, that instead of "pointing the way" like the book said it would, it played "hot & cold" with me, strongly circling counterclockwise (no) when I was far from the pencil, then getting more strongly clockwise (yes) when I would get closer, until I was standing in front of it, then it would only move forward and backward-- really neat!

Wonderful kit for beginners,

This review is from: The Pendulum Kit (Paperback)
The pendulum that comes with the book is decent, though it is on a thread which tends to slide from the center, so you may want to check out other pendulums later on.
The book contains illustrations which demonstrate how to hold a pendulum, establish basic communication signals between your subconscious and the pendulum and it guides you through a step by step recommended questioning process beginning by stating what you would like to accomplish and then asking "Can I?", "May I?", "Am I ready?", and upon getting the answer confirming that the answer you got is true. The book contains several exercises and charts (Yes/No/Maybe chart, 0-100% chart, world map, fun astrology charts, and weather chart). Few other dowsing applications are mentioned. At the end of the book is a brief overview of using other dowsing tools - L-rod, Y-rod, bobber, as well as dowsing without any devices. You are bound to have some fun with this set and perhaps you decide to continue your learning.

Great book, love the charts!,

I actually just re-ordered and received this book. I had it when it first came out. If memory serves me correct, a new book should contain a pendulum as well, thus the name "The Pendulum Kit". So if you buy this book, buy it new in case you need a pendulum as well.
I love the fact that The Pendulum Kit is written in laymans terms, very easy to follow along as your read. Sig lays it out pretty simple, in a way that lets you start using a pendulum after the very first few pages. This book shows you how to personally discover your pendulum movements for YES/NO/MAYBE, whereas some other older books I have read, just assume a certain position for the answers. What sets The Pendulum Kit apart from other books is the way in which the author has developed a set of questions to be asked before using the pendulum to assure a much higher success rate. In fact, I have adopted this pattern for years and forgotten where I had learned it from until I re-read the book. The book then moves into practical application exercises such as how to tune in, asking basic questions, the coin toss exercise and discussing the influence of emotion and the leading edge concept. All in all, through these exercises and discussions, you can tune into latent skills you might not have known you had through this process, even if you've never used a pendulum before. The book also contains several charts, but the charts are very few compared to other books. However, the look of each chart is very attractive. Each chart is comprised of black and silver coloring, which almost makes it appear as a color book. Some of the charts include a World Map, which was seemingly included to help you hone your dowsing skills through a series of map dowsing questions (with the answers in the back of the book), Astrological charts, YES/NO and Percentage charts as well as a Weather chart. Out of all the pendulum books I have read, this is one of my fav's...That's why I bought it again. I loaned my original copy to my little brother and haven't see it since:)

I purchased this kit as part of a prerequisite for a course I took on Holistic nutrition, exercise and lifestyle. It was amazing to see the many uses for the pendulum, how it worked and to be able to measure food quality, chakra strength and balance and many more.
I would recommend this to anuone interested in energetics or to see if they really exist. |
