Wanna hear Peter Tagtgren playing drums? Check this out! On the title track he played most of the instruments, and its probably the best track on here. You can really hear the roots of this band, and for a Swedish band they don't have the typical Entombed guitar sound. If you could imagine Floridian death metal being played in a more melodic European fasion, you're on the right track. Pretty cool stuff, even if its "outdated," as some would feel. This is classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent classic death metal album, September 8, 2007
This review is from: Penetralia (Audio CD)
This release looks like it's the one with the 2 bonus tracks Life Of Filth and Lead By Satanism because the logo is white not pink. Whatever happened to the pink logo? Why'd they change it? Oh well, great album anyway especially if you get the bonus tracks. This album is better than Osculum Obscenum in some ways but lacks in other departments. The vocals aren't as diverse which could be viewed as a good or bad thing (not sure). All I know is this album is different from Osculum Obscenum in many ways. It is definetely an album that defines the genre and its progression. If you like death metal and its roots then I say grab this with both hands and don't let go. This album is ofcourse before Peter Tagtgren bacame vocalist. However he was the guitarist in those days when Masse Bromberg did vocals.
Definetely a band with an interesting history and development.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great death metal!!, April 9, 1999

I can strongly suggest picking anything up by this band. This is their first cd and although primitive by their standards, this still blows away most other death metal. Nice, melodic, heavy guitars with a growling voice. If you like early entombed, carcass, dismember and stuff like this you will love hypocrisy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old school death metal, July 5, 2001

A really diferent line-up with 5 members and Peter Tägtgren was only one guitarist. It is really diferent from the Hipocrisy of almost everybody knows, but it is great. Sharp music with the old school touch of brutal death metal.

More of the same thrashing, technical metal you'd expect from this band. If you're a fan of Hypocrisy, this title is a must have.
