This review is from: The Penguin Book of Vampire Stories: Two Centuries of Great Stories with a Bite (Paperback)
Starting with the The Vampyre (1819) by John Polidori, this examination of the development of the vampire figure and the vampire in scholarly literature continues up to Tanith Lee in 1984. When read in tandem with classics (like Dracula, and Christabel, for instance) this book creates a more complete understanding of the passage of the vampire through time. Real is a must-have!
