5.0 out of 5 stars Great series for my second grader!
This is a great series for early readers that want to move to a bit more challenging chapter books. My second grader loves that each book is about a different adventure and that she learns facts at the same time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but Outlandish
My four-year-old daughter enjoyed this story, but she has not asked to read others in the series. I personally did not enjoy the plot, which involves kids turning temporarily into penguins; that twist just seems bizarre and unnecessary to me. My four-year-old daughter enjoyed this story, but she has not asked to read others in the series. I personally did not enjoy the plot, which involves kids turning temporarily into penguins; that twist just seems bizarre and unnecessary to me. In addition, there were too many characters to remember or care about. The writing style seemed choppy to me, though that might in part be due to the author's desire to make it readable by young children. My daughter and I prefer the Geronimo Stilton Mysterious Cheese Thief (Geronimo Stilton) series -- the pictures and 'funny' text really make that series interesting to pre-schoolers. On the positive side, there was educational material in the book. If a child has a strong interest in penguins or Antarctica, this might be a good choice.
