About the Author

Dudley Seth Danoff, MD, FACS, is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, with a medical degree from Yale University and urologic surgical training and fellowship from Columbia University–Presbyterian Medical Center. He is a former member of the clinical faculty at the University of California–Los Angeles School of Medicine, the founder and president of the Cedars-Sinai Tower Urology Medical Group, and the author of Superpotency. He lives in Beverly Hills, California.

More About the Author

Dudley S. Danoff, MD, FACS is the attending urologic surgeon and founder/president of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Tower Urology Group in Los Angeles, California.

A letter from Dr. Danoff to readers:

My name is Dr. Dudley Danoff. I am a full-time practicing urologic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Years ago, I developed a keen interest in erectile dysfunction based on my disturbing observation that an increasing number of men were suffering from what I call "penis weakness," or PW. I noted that there was very little discussion within the urologic community about the significance of this problem in male genital health.

As I looked deeper into this major issue, I realized that the stigma of penis weakness was a force that had not only been plaguing men in modern times but also probably men throughout all of history. I began to speak out and write about the principal characteristics of this alarming pandemic and discovered a deep reality about men and their relationships to their penises: the vast majority of males suffer from some form of PW at some point in their lives, be it physical, psychological, or both.

The most significant aspect of the PW phenomenon is that its debilitating effects are, in most cases, compounded by a general lack of knowledge about male sexuality among men and women. For too many years, men who have suffered from self-doubt and anxiety caused by PW have done so without any guidance from the medical community--especially not from the professional urologic community.

Coming to the realization that something needed to be done, I set out to write what I hoped would be the all-inclusive guide to overcoming the medical and psychological factors that lead to PW. My aim is to replace ignorance and mythology with factual information and to replace self-doubt with confidence. My goal is to help every man realize, achieve, and maximize his Penis Power™.

As a busy urologic surgeon in Los Angeles, California, I have seen more than 200,000 penises in my professional lifetime. While each is unique, just as hands and feet are unique, they are also remarkably alike anatomically. However, there is enormous variation in how they function in their sexual capacities. I have observed that these differences in functionality and capacity have very little to do with the anatomy of a particular penis or even with a man's size, looks, level of success, wealth, or status.

Mainly, functionality and performance is about how men perceive their own penises. In addition to understanding its biological functions, every man must learn that his penis is an organ of expression. What gives it its power is much more than the condition of its blood vessels and nerves.

The title of my book, "Penis Power™," refers to a transformative concept based on positive thinking. Applying the power of positive thought to your penis can change your entire life.

Your penis is what you think it is. It is as big as you think it is. It is as reliable as you think it is. It is as potent as you think it is.

This is the message of "Penis Power™."

--Dudley Seth Danoff, MD, FACS

That the author of Penis Power was advised not to put the word "penis" in the title because it would be offensive to many is strong evidence of the need for this book. Dudley Seth Danoff, an experienced urologist and urological surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, has written a serious and readable manual for anyone with an interest in men's sexual health--an audience that should include nearly every adult. To quote Dr. Danoff, "Doctors talk about the penis only when a patient brings it up because there is a problem."
Penis Power is a mix of basic scientific and medical information on the fundamental operation of the penis and its related organs and systems, interspersed with observations gleaned from nearly forty years of medical practice and teaching.

A great deal of space is devoted to the connection between a man's self image and his sexual functioning. "From my clinical observations, the single biggest sexual worry of contemporary men is that they will not provide their partners with orgasms of spectacular quantity and quality," Danoff writes.

The author covers a broad range of topics in Penis Power, including not only sexually transmitted diseases, but various kinds of erectile dysfunction, their causes and cures. Along the way, he extinguishes many of the myths circumscribing the penis, such as that size makes a difference and that there are treatments or procedures for making a penis larger or more potent. While the book is devoid of the charts and graphs resulting from actual scientific studies, its information is precise and clear. The author insists that readers (and men, in particular) desperately need the information in this book.

I heard Dr. Danoff on the Michelangelo Signorile Show and was naturally curious. Particularly if you are a guy, this is a must read; it should be required reading at some point in our human development. Like it or not, the connections between our penises and our brains are an essential fact of our being; I am now convinced of that. Dr. Danoff speaks to us in a way that is easily understood, drawing on thousands of case studies in his practice. This book could save many guys (and perhaps women as well) thousands of dollars on drugs, procedures, and psychotherapy.

This book is entertaining, informative, and much cheaper than Viagra. I liked the candid discussion of performance issues and confidence issues that could lead to a vicious circle of penis weakness. It's the owner's manual for everyone's penis.

I first came to this book not realizing what I would find, but I have to say that I got so much valuable information that I have shared since reading it.

Yes, Dr. Dudley Danoff's book PENIS POWER does discuss sexual health and performance, but if you think it's just about that, then you are missing the majority of its value. What I got from the book is not just the importance of knowing your body but realizing the connection between your feelings and your sexual performance and health. The book really stresses the importance of getting to know what is affecting you mentally and how that impacts the rest of your life.

I also appreciated the importance of knowing what can do harm to the body and affect not just your sexual health but your health overall. Communication is stressed throughout the pages of PENIS POWER as well as how a healthy appreciation for yourself and your body can help you in other areas of your life.

Though the title might seem provocative the content is definitely worth your time, and might in some ways prove life-saving as Dr. Danoff addresses some of the things men can do to improve their lives.

Written in a manner that is easy to understand and appreciate, PENIS POWER helps you to realize the connection between knowing your body and knowing yourself.

I felt a bit funny ordering this book, but I'd heard this author interviewed on a radio talk show. The book sounded good, and the author sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

Every man wants to know what makes his 'meat' tick, and this book is a fine place to start. It deals with everything "Penis", including the dreaded PSA test and prostate cancer. Though since this book was published there is much controversy over the value of the PSA test and the thousands of men each hear that end up with no more sex life, and a dripping 'unit' after getting the surgery to remove cancer.

Aside from that, I found lots of interesting info that can keep you sexually active, and enjoying it on into your uh, more mature years.

At 67, I'M still active (though not as active as I was in, say, my 20's - ahem).
