I used this and an IKEA Rast bookshelf to make a 6u rack for about $40. Normal 6u racks go for 200-400 (although made of metal). It works perfect for racking audio and home networking gear.

Search for a Flickr photo guide on how to do it. It wasn't too hard even for me (not a handyman). The rails fit perfect in the rack and I've had zero problems screwing in equipment and shelves.
