I own many Penn international reels. They are rugged, dependable and last a life time. There is a lot of talk out there about the "better" big game reel; the fact is these are the best compared to any similar reel in the same price range. People say the drags are smoother on the Shimano, I can tell you there is not enough of a difference to make it worth buying a reel made in Japan with plastic parts. Penn internationals are American made, they will last forever even in the commercial fishing industry, the parts are easy to get (if you ever need them) and if you happen to run one over with your truck on your way to the dock...chances are you can still fish it.

I put it on the rod and 5 hours later I brought in a 92 lb Yellow Fin. Smooth drag and I put the heat to him when I needed to without any problems.Plus it looks good on the boat.
