Huge disappointment,

My reel was either defective or very poorly designed. To turn the handle far enough the flip the bale over felt like the handle was going to break in half or bend in a 90º angle. The drag didn't work either. I returned it and the second one that was sent was identical. Very sad. Penn made a name for themselves many decades ago. If the reels they made back then were anything like the two I just received they would not be in business today.

I like salmon fishing with a spinning rod and reel. This reel is outstanding for use with a downrigger. I used it all last summer for king and coho salmon in Alaska, and it performed flawlessly. It received a lot of use, and it still is like brand new. I couldn't be happier with it. Amazon provided the best price by far, including free shipping; and it arrived very quickly. Excellent all the way around.
