4.0 out of 5 stars This is chocked full of information on the history of Pa D., August 10, 1999

This review is from: Pennsylvania Dutch: Folk Spirituality (Sources of American Spirituality) (Hardcover)
This book really examines the variety of PA dutch spirituality, tracing some of our stranger practices to Sufism and the Cabal as well as pre-christian German. The study of the folklore around certain Magic books, or reverends is impecable. It is a hard read, definitely college material. I was using it to research a paper so I wasn't exactly revited. But it worked out very well as an academic text, giving up quite a bit of information easily on a subject that there seem to be very few studies about.
