Great Read for For Lovers of Mystery and The Lowcountry,
By A Customer
This review is from: In for a Penny (Paperback)
Take this one to the beach but put on a lot of sun screen before you go. The plot will grab you and the afternoon and pages will fly by. Wall does a great job of keeping the narrative moving while evoking the beauty and unique culture of the coastal South Carolina lowcountry.

In for a Penny was a good solid read with well-drawn characters that had believable relationships between them. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Discovered on Hilton Head,

Arriving on the island (Hilton Head) for one of my quarterly visits, I stopped at the book store and was attracted to the "Local Authors" table. I picked up In for a Penny and took it to my villa.I got so involved in the plot, and taken by recognizing the settings, that I read well into the night and straight through the next day. I enjoyed everything about this book, including the wonderful quotes from Bartlett's. On day 3 I went back to the book store and bought the second in the series. I did force myself to do things in addition to reading for the remainder of my stay, but I am now hooked and will savor reading all of the Bay Tanner mysteries.

The package had arrived by the time I got home from work on Friday. I tore into the package and then tore into the book. Didn't stop until I finished on Saturday! The book may be called "In for a penny", but you will be "In" for a great read!

Excellent plot with interesting characters! This is a great mystery with lots of twists and turns - has excellent and accurate descriptions of the South Carolina coast and its people. A great "beach" read, perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery or wants to escape in an engrossing story...

Bay Tanner Mysteries are interesting and fun -- keeps my attention. Wish she would stop smoking! I hope to purchase all of Kathryn R. Walls books, and I sure hope that people will buy my Christian novels (I have written four of them). Roberta A. Bausum

I really liked this book. The pages turned faster and faster as the book went on and Wall did an incredible job of creating the perfect low-country atmosphere. This is the first in her Bay Tanner series and I plan on reading every one.

New author to me, good read,

I just now found this author, was looking through web sites and came across her name. I really enjoyed the book, the story was well planned out, the main character is very likeable. My only problem is, what is it with all the smoking?! The main character has a serious vice with cigerettes and I for one would like her to give that bad habit up, or at least quite referring to it in every other paragraph, please. My hangup with this will not keep me from reading all the other books in this series. I love finding a strong, smart character in a book, and this one is both of those.

I didn't enjoy this book, more romance novel than mystery. The characters incessant description of every stitch of wardrobe and morsel of food is pretty useless but then I'm used to reading Michael Connelly and Robert Crais so maybe I expected to much. I won't read anymore of Ms. Wall's work.
