Over all it was an okay read. It was a very fast read. I was able to finish this in under 45 minuets. (Please note, I was called away in the middle of that 45 minuets for about 20 minutes.) But it was not worth the 2.99 price tag. This seemed to me to be an writing exercise that flushes out two main characters. The rest of the story was underdeveloped and glossed over, Mack just appeared and vanished and there is so obviously history and a back story with these characters. Or it was a "What if..." exercise after the publication of HARD CANDY. What if Penny when left instead of right etc etc. What if the Author omitted half the story to white wash it for more sensitive readers? Whatever way it is viewed, this was a glorified English Comp exercise that I was duped into purchasing for $2.99.

HARD CANDY in my opinion is the true story that Ms. Buchanan wanted to tell. And admittedly, it is NOT a story that everyone will go for. It was fully rounded out and gad much better character development than this writing exercise did. I truly wish I didn't waste my $2.99 on an this "Novella."

The author in this book explores the result of one decision and provides a fun and satisfying read that makes the reader wonder what decision is made differently to influence a very different outcome in Hard Candy the companion story. Both Live up to the Bandit Creek brand by delivering intriguing stories of varying genre in the same town. Hard Candy (Bandit Creek)Lost (Bandit Creek)Siren's Song (Bandit Creek)

The next release in the Bandit Creek Series. Based on the earlier ones (Lost and Siren's Song) I know these will be good reads. Penny Candy and Hard Candy reflect the outcomes of one choice with two possibilities. Intriguing idea and a guaranteed good read. Now for hot chocolate, Baileys and an afternoon with a good book.

This is almost (added dialogue) the same book as the one entitled 'Hard Candy' minus one aspect of the relationship. I didn't like either cause it was rushed in the development of characters. Also a little too fast in its resolution, especially pertaining to its HEA.
