Book Description

September 29, 2009 4 and up
Readers across the country have been touched and forever changed by the New York Times bestselling book Christmas Jars. Now, children can feel the spirit of the Christmas Jar in this full- color illustrated children s picture book. Penny s Christmas Jar Miracle is an original story based on the Christmas Jars tradition that has touched hundreds of thousands of lives. Penny Paisley and her family have a special Christmas tradition. All year long they collect their loose change and drop it in a glass jar on the kitchen counter. Then, each December, Penny and her family make their most exciting decision of the year: Who will receive the Paisley Family Christmas Jar? This year, Penny gets to choose what to do with the jar, and she has something special in mind. Instead of just giving our jar to only one person or one family, what if we gave it to the entire neighborhood? said Penny. We could use the Christmas jar money to have the biggest and best party anyone has ever been to. No one will ever forget it! To earn money for the Christmas Jar, Penny sets up a hot chocolate stand in front of her house. Mr. Charlie, the kind elderly man across the street, is her best customer. He even helps her make invitations for the party. But when Mr. Charlie becomes ill, Penny sets a new plan in motion and gets the whole neighborhood involved. Yes, this will be a Christmas and a party that no one will ever forget! Children will not only learn about compassion and service but, most important, they ll see that no matter what your age, you can make a difference in the life of someone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Penny's Christmas Jar Miracle October 14, 2009
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought Penny's Christmas Jar Miracle to share with my family. I read the story to my boys the first night after it came. I had already begun collecting money in my Christmas Jar and after reading the story, my son went and got his money that he was collecting and asked if he could put it in with my Christmas money. It warms my heart that they are learning at such an early age to be so giving! Thanks, Jason for such awesome, heartwarming books and for showing us that there are kind people in the world. I believe you will be starting an epidemic with your Christmas Jars!!! What a Miracle that is!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A children's Christmas Jar book November 3, 2009
Format:Hardcover
This beautifully illustrated book is a wonderful introduction for children to learn about the tradition of the Christmas Jar. It helps them to realize how they can play an important part in this tradition of touching another person's life as they follow Penny through the story. It is easy to read and gives children their very own Christmas Jar book. It is a fabulous addition to the collection of this wonderful Christmas magic.

I bought this for my small child to introduce the concept of the Christmas Jar and to discuss what we want to do with our jar. It has been fun to read and discuss this together. I am looking forward to the day when she can read the original Christmas Jars book and follow it with the new Christmas Jars Reunion book which is a wonderful extension of the first book.

Happy reading!
