Words can not describe, December 3, 1999
This review is from: Pennywise (Audio CD)
One listen to Pennywise and you'll realize they aren't like most 90's punkers. Unlike the Offspring and Blink-182, who's pop sound has grown so much into their style that it isn't even punk anymore, Pennywise has always remained true to their original style. This album, their first full length EP, is arguably their best album (the only contender would be Full Circle). Indeed, you can't get much more punk than these guys. But Pennywise is punk with a message. Their lyrics are unbelievably powerful, even life changing. I've heard many stories of people's lives taking a turn for the better after listening to Pennywise. Just pay attention to what Jim is singing in songs like "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "No Reason Why," "Bro Hymn" and "Rules." These guys have a lot of good things to say. And they have a lot of great music to back it up. Fletcher Dragge is one of the best punk guitarists ever. Byron's drumming skills are breathtaking, and Jason's bass playing is fast and furious (their new bass player, Randy, is definately equal to Jason, if not better). If you like real punk rock and positive lyrics, definately check these guys out. Also be sure to listen to their other albums, all of which are great.

pennywise rules, October 7, 2000
This review is from: Pennywise (Audio CD)
If you like punk than you like Pennywise. This cd, their best one, established the original sound to which they have remained true through all their more recent releases. With Byron setting the beat on drums the band produces the tightest sound out there. Buy this cd. Buy all their cds. You won't regret it. All you need to do to become a believer is listen to Bro Hymn. Other good bands include NoFX, Lagwagon, Operation Ivy, Millencolin and AFI.

Such a classic!, July 2, 2004

The years passed and punk-rock music became more angular, less angry, less crunchy but the classics aren't there to disappear, they're there to remember how a certain style of music should be! Pennywise's first album had been copied so many times but never equaled, this fast, furious and energic CD is the best release that had ever been made by epitaph records (Oh you got some other cool stuff also!)!
