OK, I have several Intel Macs, and an iPhone. When my job suddenly changed to a strong marketing role, I had to manage the huge stack of business cards I'd collected over the years, it was no longer sufficient to say "that number is here somewhere" as I flip through a stack of cards.

The hardware is good. Small, lightweight, I can throw it in my laptop case and go. A short USB cable is integrated, and it comes with a extension cable which I've yet to need. The little flip-down cover is fine, I suppose it keeps dirt out when carrying it around. I'd almost prefer a pouch to carry it in.

OCR sucks everywhere, it's as good here as it is anywhere. That means you will do a lot of editing. Don't think you won't. More on this in a moment.

The drivers went on easily, and the device was instantly recognized. I was scanning in under 5 minutes.

Here's the rub. The bundled software, WorldCard, looks like it would be incredible. But that's Windows only application, no touchy for us Mac users. WorldCard Express is bundled for Mac users, and it is nothing to write home about.

I think that most of the functionality the WorldCard promises is provided by a combination of WorldCard Express and the Mac Address Book. If the conversion between the two was seamless, I would have no complaints, but it isn't. You will basically perform two levels of edit on every card you input.

When you scan, you'll click on 'Edit', and a fairly accurate representation of the card will appear in editable fields. You have an opportunity to fix OCR issues here. It's cool that items that weren't recognized go into a separate area you can cut and paste from to put them where they need to be.

Bought this for use as sales rep to scan client cards. Works like a charm. This is my first business card scanner but so far, after a week of use and 280 contacts entered, this baby is a miracle. Took less than 2 hours to install software, play around with software and scan 280 cards.

PROS:
Fast - about 1-2 seconds per card, including recognition!

Small - cord folds up in back, flap covers scanner entry, making it very pocketable

Accurate - my guess is about 75% accurate in recognizing and correctly placing information in proper field. Sometimes name of client will be placed in company name and vice versa.

Clear pics - each card is recorded as picture so can simultaneously see actual card if there's a question about accuracy

Search - awesome and fast. Can search name, city, address, company name or any data in SINGLE search box or go through advanced search. Average name search results in about 1 second.
Dual mode - can see card and recognized text at same time.

Fast indexing - when searching for client by last name but only remember first few letters of last name: search gives several hits and you can scroll through each very quickly to find your hit. Say looking for "Chi" as first letters name. Search will provide all relevant hits including address, city, etc. But so so quickly, average search takes less than a minute.

USB powered - only USB cord connects scanner to computer, doesn't seem to draw any appreciable power either. My setup is a 2011 Acer Netbook with 1.3 Ghz Intel, 1 Gb RAM, stock battery, Windows 7 starter. Works fine w/o hitches so far.

Web-enabled address find - when connected to Internet, can click on address and software will pull up address on Google maps. SWEEEEET!

Verified Purchase
This WorldCard Pro- PenPower Pro Scanner was just what we were looking for! This scanner is very much user friendly, and very efficient at scanning/sorting/OCR for business card organization. We use this with a PC, although we had started using it on a MAC. Based on our experience, we would recommend using it on a PC, as it seems to be most efficient on a PC, vs. a MAC. With any questions or concerns, we had contacted the manufacturer/maker/company of this device- & they were so helpful. As previously mentioned- WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS ON A MAC. Overall, we are very pleased to have chosen & purchased this device for our business needs. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DEVICE TO SMALL BUSINESSES!

The accuracy of the scanning is amazing, but the program freezes or crashes about every three or four cards. It is pretty irritating.
