You take turns at placing marbles on the game board and twisting the game blocks with the goal of getting five marbles in a row before your opponent does. The unique twist movement makes Pentago exceptionally different than any ordinary five in a row game. There are four unique ways to set up a winning row of five marbles in Pentago and advanced players are constantly foiled by each others moves and strategies. There is no dominant strategy for winning. The logic for advance play is deep with strategy and deception and the pitfalls of getting "caught" by your opponent seem endless. Pentago is very "chess like" but without the steep learning curve. Comes with a Basic Strategy and Rules Guide that gives all the basic insight to Pentago strategy and logic. Good and simple strategy game. It is not as deep as some strategy games but that is what makes it appealing to younger kids starting out on strategy games.

This game is simple to learn, but difficult to master -- as advertised. A five yr old can play, and so can an old man -- the only limits for both is a little bit of dexterity in placing the marbles. Good game for spacial orientation visualization, and logic. The game never gets boring as infinite variations are possible -- although with two skilled players the variations narrow (since you know what doesn't work). Only real limit is it's a two player game. Easy to take on trips and a good "icebreaker" game, since it is fairly simple to teach even with limited language skills.
