I have two garages to drywall including ceilings and figure I can sell it when I'm done, and still be ahead rather than hiring someone to help.
Ken Wood

The Platinum drywall lift is a good tool for the money, especially with a 3 year warranty. The lift went together easily and it works very well.
The only down side of this deal was the packaging. When I received my lift, the box that it came in looked like it had been through the mill.
A few of the plastic caps were damaged in shipping, but I contacted their customer sevice dept. and I was sent replacement parts right away.
They seem to be a good company to do business with.

I purchased this hoist for my husband who is rehabbing houses. We were excited that it was such a good buy but disappointed when we used it. On the first piece of drywall which was a 12 foot piece, the hoist wheel, one of the supports and a caster bent. When we called Discount Tommy they said we could send it back but it weighs 100 lbs. We would end up with a refund of $59.00 after spending about $269 for the purchase and return shipping. I would never have bought this thing had I known. I read other people's reviews before purchasing this hoist but aparently they were luckier then we were. Chinese junk. Disappointed.Professional 11 Foot Drywall Lift / Hoist by Platinum Tool 11'-Ceiling 15'-Wall - One-Person Application

I am a customer home builder for the last 31 years. We rent a drywall lift couple times a year, but with business slow we are hanging our selves so I ordered this lift. It is not safe, my guys refuse to use it. The arms bend, the welds were broken in 2 areas when we opened the box, the mechanizm that is supposed to hold the drywall in place slips. We took it apart twice to see if we did something wrong, but it is a copy cat, looks the same but it is of very poor quality.

It functions as advertised and does so quite well. The one issue I see with this unit is that to load a sheet of drywall, the height one man must lift a sheet to set it in the sprin loaded keepers is nearly 4 feet off the floor, so its almost a 2 man lift. Otherwise it works very well for the money involved...

I have used this lift on two jobs now so let me tell you what it is good for. Firstly, I have had no mechanical issues with this lift and I'm a pretty big guy so lifting up to 12 footers (about 75 lbs) is fairly easy for me so I can put them gently on the lift. I can lift 14s and 16s but they flop around way two so you will have no chance of getting them onto the lift arm supports which are about 4-1/2 feet off the floor. You will need two people to put 14s or 16s on the lift. Once there the lift arm supports are about a 6-7 guage wire and they cut right through the drywall edge so repair is required. The drywall bed tilts from flat to about 70 degrees so it will do flat and slanted ceilings but it does not lock out at any position except flat so it tilts the drywall for slant ceilings only by putting pressure on the bottom of the board making breakout at the wire supports even more likely. The bed will not tilt to 90 degrees so walls can't really be done with this unit. The vertical supports are not adjustable so they are constantly getting the way of lifting odd shape pieces as the project I am working includes several recessed skylights. The lift has been basically useless for this purpose.

The casters are 3/4 in x 4 inch hard rubber locking casters. They are tough enough for the job but they won't roll over anything with a sheet of drywall on the lift not even a 16 guage extension cord. The caster locks do work quite well. The unit seems to be fairly well made as far as the steel goes as its fairly heavy guage.

So there you have it. If you want to use it for flat and slanted ceilings it would be fairly useful if you want to limit yourself to 8 to 12 foot sections.

I needed plenty of time to install my drywall, and renting would have cost too much for the job. This machine was easy to use and makes installing drywall a one man job. Great time and money saver! I highly recommend it.

This product is just as it was described and exactly what I was looking for. It is easy to assemble and disassemble. It is very easy to use and takes the strain off of lifting the sheetrock. This lift allows you to install drywall all day all by yourself. The crank wheel allows you to stop and hold the drywall exactly where your want it. It is made of quality durable materials. You won't find this on harbor freight.

What a tool, used it once in a tight ceiling area and it was great, alot easier than holding it with your head and trying to screw to trusses. One of the best investiments i have made and price was cheaper than having to rent one for several weekends.
