Book Description

The pentatonic scale is one of the most frequently used and commonly taught scales on the guitar. Over the past fifty years countless books have been written in an attempt to teach the fingerings and practical applications of the major and minor pentatonic scale for guitar. Guitarist and educator Russell DeCorte’s book Pentatonic Soundscapes Version 1.0 sets out to strike new ground in the realm of pentatonic scale pedagogy and application.

I recommend Pentatonic Soundscapes for advanced beginner to intermediate level students who are looking for new source material in their study of the pentatonic scale. Guitar teachers will also be able to use this book in their studios as a guide, and for the examples, when teaching the major and minor pentatonic scale to their students. The very reasonable price of this book will also make it an attractive buy for any guitarist as they look to expand their pedagogical library.

1.0 out of 5 stars PICTURES ARE BLURRY March 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really hate having to say something negative about a book , but the kindle version of this book is really bad. The ideas and what the guy is saying is really worthwhile and informative, but the actual examples/ photographs of the sheet music / tabs of all the various modes the guy is talking about are so blurry you cant see half of the numbers. The problem Im finding with alot of kindle stuff is that the pictures wont blow up in size, so you really cant do anything about it. The tabs are blurry small and un readable.I find this really annoying as this is a critical element of the book and his advice relies heavily on the examples as a reference. Sorry but if you have kindle on your laptop perhaps you should think twice before buying this. quality control issues I'm afraid...
