I recently purchased a Pentax K-R after my *istD died. What I loved about the *istD was the ability to use rechargeable, CRV3 or AA batteries. Without this adaptor, you cannot use AA batteries in the K-R. For me, it is nice to know if you are in a jam, you can run to the store and buy a few AA batteries to keep you powered up and snapping away. The adaptor doesn't seem like much and seems expensive for what it does, especially considering the older cameras didn't need an adaptor. That is why I rated it four stars instead of five. If you do not have this adaptor or extra rechargeable batteries, you will not be able to take pictures. I had that happen to me the second day I had the camera. After shooting a day of pictures, the rechargeable battery died. I did not realize the power would be depleted so quickly. I wanted to take pictures and couldn't until the battery charged up again, a couple hours later. That same night I bought this adaptor and a couple extra rechargeable batteries.

So glad I bought this. When my charger quit on me in Europe, this was my backup. I had brought a couple of sets of AAs with me and was able to keep snapping pics to my heart's content. Saved me until I was able to locate the correct charger in a store days later.

Yes, it adds a bit of weight to the camera. But when the alternative is not getting any photographs of your priceless vacation, it seems a small price to pay.

The item allows me us use double A batteries during emergencies with my camera. It is wonderful to have another power supply when you cannot recharge your batteries.

Does what it says it does, it will add a little weight to the camera, however it's a nice back up to the lithium battery.

I, also, feel more comfortable with AA cells available in most drugstores. I also carry AA NiMH rechargeables. I switch these each night, and recharge the "used" cells overnight and always carried a spare (or 2!) set. The bag kept getting heavier. I decided to weigh and compare. Pentax L-109 = 1-7/8oz; AA X 4 = 4-1/8oz!! Carry 2 sets of spares (I'm a little too careful sometimes, but better safe . . .) and you are adding a half pound of dead weight. Doesn't sound like much, but when the camera weighs just over lb. . . I found that the Li battery charges in a few hours and that it lasts well over 600 pics (some built-in flash). Considering the adapter cost $40 and a "genuine" Pentax replacement L-109 is the same price, you pays your money and takes your choice. (I'll still carry a spare set of AA's or 2 in my suitcase.) :-(

It's a really nice to have accessory with the K-r and comes handy when you have your LIon battery ran out. Feels not well built though.

I bought this instead of a second Li-on battery so that I could be sure to always have access to batteries. The Li-on takes a couple of hours to charge and the Rechargeable AA batteries take 15 minutes. I use the AA's as my main source of power and hold the charged Li-on as my reserve.

What else can I say the product works as stated.

I recommend Amazon to all my friends they've never let me down and their prices are more than fair.

This comes in really handy when you need more battery power. With this adapter you can use rechargable AA or plain old buy-anywhere-disposable AA batteries.

This is well manufactured.

One of the things I like about Pentax is the fact you can use AA batteries; but unfortunately they changed that with the Kr unless you buy an adapter. Well at least you're not stuck having to buy; what should have come with the camera; from them.
This item works great at a fraction of what Pentax charges.
The only thing I am not 100% about it is that it doesn't eject when released you have to hold your camera upright while releasing it and hope it falls in your hand')But all in all it does the job.

First of all Kudos to the seller, package arrived PDQ(pretty dang quick), even on a federal holiday weekend. I received in three business days. Now in regards to the product (battery holder) it looks like the same one that Pentax sells for 39.99 but I got for 1/3 that price. I put batteries in it slipped it into the camera battery slot and Viola! it worked. I didn't buy it to replace the actual litium battery that came with the camera, but I purchased this item in case I needed battery power( GREAT IDEA Pentax!!) I can switch to 4AA battery power if needed and I couldn't see myself spending 40.00 dollar for something that I wasn't going to use very often(X) fingers crossed.
I only gave it 4 stars because.... I just got it and initially it works but I just got it so in time, if able I will come back and edit this review.

Seller gets five stars for service!!! He or she wrote me to inform me that product was send and apologized that it was send on a holiday weekend. NO WORRIES MATE! it's all good!!!
