The Pentax 8 x 36 DCF HS is a high performance binocular that features a simplified body design and a lightweight, fiberglass reinforced polycarbonate body encased in a full body rubber housing to protect the optics and inner mechanisms from external shock and assure a firm, comfortable hold. The combination of multi-coated optical elements and high-refraction BaK4-glass roof prisms treated with phase coating and a new super-reflection coating ensures a high resolution, high contrast image over the entire image field. A protective glass is incorporated in front of the objective focusing elements to prevent the intrusion of dust into the inner body.

The DCF HS series binoculars offers JIS Class 4 weather resistant capability for use around the water and in rain. Both the rubber housing and the protective glass also serve to upgrade the binocular's weather resistance.

Other noteworthy features include a long eye relief (16mm for the 8x36), helicoid type extendible eyepiece rings, a click-stop diopter adjuster, and rain-shielding eyepiece caps. The binocular also accept an optional tripod adapter (TP-3) for quick tripod mounting and removal. Combining top optical performance, compact design and durable, weather resistant body construction, the 8x36 DCF HS binocular is designed to benefit the user in every viewing opportunity especially in targeted applications.

Bought this for $120 from one of the Amazon dealers and it's a steal for the price. It's well constructed and the images are sharp and clear. The relatively heavy weight (vs the cheap ones I had) of the binos also makes for stable viewing.

the pentax 8x35 DCF HS for $99.00 was the ultimate steal. it arrived quickly, was well constructed, sharp & well styled. the lens covers are not
very well made, so i suggest you replace them with a better quality set from a sporting goods store. buy these while you can get them this cheap.

OK performance. I wish I had gone with a higher magnification. I did not have a chance to compare this with those high price ones, but for the price it is a comfortable purchase.

This one works quite well in daylight but not as well as claimed at dusk.
Images do not have depth. FOV is narrow. Takes more effort to focus. Not too many dealers carry this model so that I can try it out before I made my decision.
